Overview of Saddlemen Cruisn Saddlebags with Shock Cutaway - 3501-0575
Saddlemen Saddlebags offer more features and fresh styling
All bags are made of a durable combination of materials including genuine leather, marine grade vinyl, chrome-plated brass and tough plastic frame
Weather-resistant and worry free
Contoured backside allows fitment directly over most shock absorbers, allowing saddlebag options on bikes that were previously limited due to shock and turn signal placement
Smooth, clean-styled saddlebags feature easy-open lid with supplemental hook-and-loop and rigid construction
Install using one of three methods: zippered yoke for over-the-fender mounting, hard mount bags using saddlebag supports (sold separately) or use Saddlemen's S4 Quick Disconnect Mounting Kit (sold separately) for a custom, rigid mount
Zip-off yoke mounting allows bag to be disconnected without removing the yoke
I put these on an 08 XL883C. The yoke doesn't work right with my fixed mount backrest. You need to rigid mount these or use the quick disconnect kit from saddlemen. You will also need to relocate the turn signals. Get the Harley kit with the lay-back license plate, it looks best. Overall, these bags are small (my leather jacket fills one whole bag) but they don't look gaudy. I think they're just the right size for the sportster..
I think these are the perfect size bag for a sportster. They're small (my leather jacket takes up one whole bag) but they don't look gawdy. I put these on an 2008 XL883C. You will need to relocate the turn signals. My recommendation is get the Harley Davidson relocation kit with the lay back license plate. It looks better than the universal brackets. Also get the saddlemen quick disconnect kit for these or rigid mount them. The yoke doesn't fit right with my fixed mount back rest. It made the bottom of the bags tilt in-board touching the tire. I guess longer support brackets might help but I liked the look of the rigid/quick disconnect mount with the standard saddlemen supports.
Stock photos show bags on a Super Glide, they fit between the shocks and turning signal, but it's tight on an 07 Street Bob. Makes it tough to open quickly. Not enough of an issue to kick them back :) .
Bags work well for the most part...until we got caught in a rain storm. Had puddle in the bottom of the bag. Found small area at the top inside where water could get in and it did. The one area where the top flap does not extend over the side panels. I also broke a quick disconnect snap underneath where it attaches to the support bar. Dennis Kirk told me to contact the manufacturer (Saddlemen), but they either don't answer their phone or say they will ship out a replacement and never do.
