I ride 2 up with about 340 lbs total on the bike. Should I be getting the heavy duty shocks or are these ok? Can i stiffen up the spring if I ride 2 up vs 1 up?
A shopper on Apr 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes these should work for you
whats the diff between heavy duty and standard versions?
Robert B on Feb 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Heavy duty has a stiffer coil to allow for heavier loads. If you do a lot of 2 up riding with heavy loads then the manufacturer recommends the heavy duty version.

Wonderful shocks for ride and handling
Easy to install myself and came perfectly set for the weight of my Glide as accessorized yielding a 12" no-payload length with a 1/2" reduction to 11.5" with my fully equipped weight of 190#! Exactly as the instructions say it should be. Did move compression damping up 1/2 turn. Standard shocks only have 1.5" total stroke, with .5" used up by pre-load sag and .25" more by my weight. These shocks double the available stroke and give wonderful damping on BOTH compression and extension and now I have a wider payload range without having to reset. Before the standard ones basically gave a choice of hard bottoming over minor holes, drain channels, etc., or preloading to point of discomfort on anything but billiard smooth road. These shocks make the road and imperfections seem billiard smooth and now the front shocks are lagging in performance! LOL Probably next to be changed!
Optional LED rear lighting cable goes over the top of the shock-below the bolt-to avoid pinched wire
As mounted with the saddlebag off and the LED rear light wiring connector moved to the top of shock.
