Newbie cruiser: Looking for a leather jacket that offers some extra protection. The Scout is exactly what I was looking for. First ride with it was with the liner in and the vents open as it was 70degrees out. Perfectly comfortable. I wanted a jacket I could wear in the 50 degree range and also during the summer months of Colorado. Haven't ridden without the liner, but pretty sure it will be just fine during the Colorado summer. Plenty of air flow. Like all the features on the jacket and is a nice solid jacket. I am 6 foot, 192 lbs, 45 inch chest. I order the 44 and had to send it back as it was tight in the arms. Chest was fine, but I couldn't raise my arms. Exchanged for the 46 and it fits great. From on review I was concerned about riding with the collar unbuttoned, but I had no issue with the collar flapping around. Dennis Kirk credited my card within 1 day of receiving my return. Great service.
The good: Leather quality is outstanding, it has a million pockets, and with removable liner, neck strap, & armor can be worn every season up to 20 degrees.
The bad: Lots of pockets means plenty of bulk and combined with fully opened expanded vents makes any body type look like they're packing a gut. (Not as sleek as photo, especially with full armor.) Velcro straps no longer stick and zipper has plastic teeth and tends to stick at connection. (Not XY!) Zipper is still intact though after 2 1/2 years of use.
Swap out the shoulder and elbow pads with Icon D30 slim armor pads and it looks great! Otherwise prepare to be mistaken for a lost football player. I feel completely safe riding with this jacket on long distance freeway trips.
