Rick's BMW starter
I got this to replace my failed starter on my '95 R100RT. It was a little more expensive than others, but I wanted quality and Rick's seems to have the rep for that. But now that I have it I don't think I can bring myself to install it. I was not prepared to get a starter with this much style. Its design lines blend a sense of no-nonsense industrial purposefulness with sleek, modern futuristic classiness, yet without seeming pretentious. The overall effect is simultaneously bold yet understated. Heft this starter in your hand and you will realize that it would be a bargain at ten times the price - if the casting was made from solid 24k gold, which I don't believe it is. So instead of installing this work of art in the bowels of my R100, where it would never be seen again, I have arranged for the public to see it by appointment for a nominal fee, and even embrace it briefly in a private booth for an extra charge. For now I will continue to roll start my R100, until revenue amassed from ticket sales will permit the purchase of another Rick's starter.
