Progressive Springs on XL-1200Low
These are not listed for use with XL-1200L (LOW), only for the custom. Was able to install without problem however. The overall length of the springs plus the spacer is actually shorter than the stock springs, resulting in a slightly lower free-standing height, but raised the front end about 1/2" once sitting on the bike (my goal was to raise the front end). The ride feels much more stable, and does not dive in corners or when braking as promised. The only concern is how the PVC spacers will hold up over time (may be just fine). Installation is quite easy, but a motorcycle lift is recommended.

Fork Springs
After only 8,000 miles on my 07 XL883R I began to notice frontend sag and brake dive from my fork springs wearing out. With now having 30,000 miles on the bike I installed the Progressive spring kit, my stock springs had gotten SO bad when I installed the kit I regained 4.5 inches of standing hieght in my frontend and no longer bottom out the forks under braking or bumps. These springs have installed a new envigor and comfort in wanting to ride the bike and I now aim for potholes simply because the enjoyment of the performance of my frontend.

Great addition to my XL1200R
I installed these 5 years ago and they're still performing like new. Easy to install with bike lifted. Paired with Progressive rear shocks these springs improved the ride tremendously and made the bike's handling much more responsive.

Must have for any sportster
I knew these springs would help out with my front end sag, handling and large bump rebound, but I had no idea how much difference they'd really make. Its like a whole new front end on The bike, far more stable in turns, small bumps no longer feel like landmines and what is bottoming out? Because even the worst train tracks I could find didn't come close to bottoming the forks.

Prog Front Replacement
Setup: 2008 HD sportster with stock suspension. Every crack in the pavement would hurt my spine, especially on a cold day.

Had a local shop pull out the springs and pop these in. Did not need to be lowered at all. Also put in some Ricor hydraulic fluid valve things that other HD riders. Used 7 weight oil - not the 5 that ricor recommends.

You can still feel the road real well, but it does not hop or make your kidneys bleed when you hit a pothole or dead hooker.

Night and Day difference
These fork springs have made riding much more comfortable. Install took about a half hour, getting me back off the road after installing them took A LOT longer. I have a more solid stance in curves and uneven roads. NO MORE NOSE DIVING when braking! on and off my ride the front has a higher stance. So much so that I had to readjust my headlight. Love these springs. 2005 Sportster 1200 Custom.

bought these, no instructions..... which way is 'right end up'. I would hate to install upside down !!!!! That would be a bi..... to pull and invert and re-install. keeping stock fork oil, thought I could drain it easily... Any advice Harley guys?

BEST ANSWER: Does not matter at all. The springs work the same either way.

That said, it feels more 'right' to have the denser coils to the bottom of the fork. When the subject comes up on a forum the consensus is the same. But it really makes no difference, just go ahead and install them.

Use the provided spacer. If you need a softer or harder ride, replace it with a length of white irrigation pipe. I think there is a section on the website that talks about spacer (sometimes referred to as preload) for different bikes but the included spacer should be close enough for almost all uses.

I've used them in four bikes for close to 200k miles on both Hondas and Harleys, The ride improvement is phenomenal. You may not notice much of an improvement on short rides but on longer trips you will be able to ride longer and further.
