I have a 08 XL 883L that is already lower in the front than other Sportsters, I think, will this kit lower my front end more? or is it just a stock replacement?, I'm building a "cafe bob" and trying to get it low and level...

Progressive drop in for 2007 Softail
Once I removed the head light, the decorative trim, loosened the pinch bolts, i could slip the fork tube down in the triple tree and access the spring "plug" mentioned in the instructions. I know that they cannot show all details in the instructions but knowing this upfront would have been better. Once access was gained, doing the actual install was a breeze. Now that my fatboy is lowered, it rides better, looks way better and I've gotten lots of compliments on it. I'd say it took about 10 mins to install the kit in the fork but about 2 hours to remove and replace all the other parts in order to get to the fork tube.

Drop in Kit
Just finished installing this kit on my Harley FLHTCUI . If your good with tools , plan on about 3 to 4 hours, Aux lights ,fairing, Ignition Switch, front tire, fender and brakes all have to com off to get to the Right side of the front forks. then 2 bolts more and that comes off, dont tilt the slider over or the oil pours out the top . now the easy part , remove the top nut , remove the spring, install the kit re fill that oil I mentioned, Oh reassemble your bike.
looks like about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 drop, no trouble with fender and fairings rubbing, long ride tomorrow to test the ride

Better ride
Disassembly was required on my 03 fxsti. This product took about two hours to install and the tire, fender and turn signals etc. had to be removed. However this was purchased at a great price and delivered very quickly from Dennis Kirk. My bike is now lowered and the ride is much better and slightly firmer. Wish I had done this several years ago.

Not for the typical home mechanic.
What they don't tell you is that you have to get to the top of the shocks. Special tools are required for that part. Installation may take only 30 minutes then, but you're looking at a days work just getting to that point and then putting the motorcycle back together. They're still sitting on the bench in my garage until I can get the bike in to have them installed.

2011 Roadking Installation
Took me about 2hrs. start to finish You can do it by yourself, if good with tools. Remove the fog light bar, headlight ,nacelle, and take out bolt from brake crossover. Then you can access the fork nuts. Loosen the pinch bolts, then jack the bike up high enough to access fork caps, I used a piece of foam, to catch the cap when I loosened it, and popped off to keep it from banging the triple tree. If your not using a spacer easy to put cap back. I put a 1'' spacer, so a second set of hands would have been nice. I used a piece of pvc pipe, slid through triple tree to put pressure and re-insert cap. Then re-assemble. No special tools needed. Works great happy with the ride.
