Bought these shocks and Progressive front springs from DK for my 2007 Dyna.Should have come this way.No more front dive when braking, rides better, handles better.Well worth the money.
I bought these in the 13 inch length for my 92 XLH1200. The stock 11 inch shocks beat the $%@& out of my back and bottomed out constantly. These have improved my riding pleasure and have yet to bottom out, even with 2 up riding. One thing though, dont be stubborn like me and try to install them without putting the bike on a lift. A lift will save you aggrevation, and make installation a dream.
Bought a set to match up with fork springs from Progressive.Couldn't be more pleased.Handling much improved.Particularly noticeable when transitioning left to right or vice versa on s curves.Stock sloppy feel is gone.
I replaced my stock, 2005, air shocks on the Electraglide that has 70k on the odometer. I bought the 412 series that were model specific. The ride, with two up, is great! Comfortable, no bottoming out, and the bike stayed settled in turns even though the road was rough. This was on the lowest setting! My wife and I are average sized with great bone structure. Enjoy!
It would be redundant to just go on and on about these shocks and the dramatic improvement they have made. I am a big skeptic, but I am glad I bit the bullet and purchased these shocks, best thing I have done for improvement to this bike. I am a "Gold Club member" of another online site, and Dennis Kirk beat there price by $60.0 hands down with fast shipping. Its a win, win situation for me. Buy the shocks if you want comfort, if not continue with what you got!!!!!!!!!!
Dennis Kirk had the best price on these that I could find on the net. The 11" shocks make my '06 XL1200C look amazing and I could not be happier. Good quality too!
I was ready to get rid of my XL Roadster due to poor ride with lowered shocks. Too rough for my neck. Progressive techs recommended these and they are just right. I will keep the bike as it's a pleasure to ride in comfort now!!! Very pleased with ride and handling. For ride don't go any lower than a 12" shock.
Don't put Progressive shocks on your sportster they start at 75lbs/inch and on a sportster that may be fine if you weigh in excess of 200 pounds but I weigh 175 and at their lowest setting they only gave 0.25" without me on the bike and less than about an 1" with me on it when I bought the 12.5" version of 412's vs. factory 11.5". This lead to a very stiff ride, as stiff as my original.
These shocks have helped so much! I am 6'3" and around 240lbs and they make solo and 2 up riding so much better both in comfort and handling. And no more chewed through turn signal wires! Amazing purchase for my 05 1200 Custom!
Got these to replace some worn out 11 1/2" on the rear of a 1994 XLH 1200. The unidentifiable ones that were on it bottomed out on almost any bump no matter what my preload setting was and the ride was far from smooth. The Progressives most definitely smoothed out the ride which is what I was looking for. They still bottom out but not as often. I'm not faulting them for that because they are 11" shocks after all. And the look they gave the bike is great. All things considered, they are a pretty fair trade-off between style and comfort.
Helpful customer service with choosing the shocks! Fit and finsh of the shocks was OUTSTANDING! Everything was included for installation and the install went well without a problem! Thanks Dennis Kirk and Crew and .... PROGRESSIVE, you have a GREAT Product!!!
These shocks were a replacement for the original shocks that had 45K miles on them. When I removed the old ones, these were easily installed with no adjustments. Set at one notch higher than the factory setting and the difference is incredible.
i put these on my harley 2007 xl883 low ,wow what a difference , its a major improvement over the stock shocks , i highly recommend these if you are considering new shocks for your bike .
Excellent Price, Shipping was fast, Quality topnotch, and the ride difference was HUGH! Installation was completed and I was out for a test ride in under an hour. After a few handling and braking checks, it was off to the open road where I found the ride stiffer than I desired but still better than the stock shocks. Later when riding two up is when I truly became happy with my new purchase.
Bought these shocks and they make a world of difference to the ride dennis Kirk is an excellent source for parts, shipping was within 1 week exactly when they said it would be also can't beat the price great people and a great product
I put these shocks on my 2012 FLHX Street Glide literally 2 days before I left from Louisville KY to ride to Sturgis SD. I already had 14,800 miles of riding on my stock shocks and was definately in tune with their flaws of bottoming out. I put just over 3600 miles on these shocks in ten days over some of the roughest roads in the country and they worked flawlessly! Installation was a snap, adjustment was simple, and even with 185lbs of me and 100lbs of gear they never bottomed out. Ride was just as comfortable loaded as empty.
First allow me to say I have been buying my bike parts from another online company, of which I am a gold club member. Dennis Kirk beat there price by $60.0, and shipped Super fast. The quality of the product is top of the line. Now for the performance of product. It has made as big a difference as night and day on the ride of my bike. I use my bike as a daily commuter and as such I travel the same route every day, so I am VERY familiar with every bump and hole and I can say with these shocks adjusted to position 2 its like riding on a pillow. I would highly recommend this product to anyone interested in comfort.
I put these on my 1997 FXDL. I've always liked Progressive shocks, and the 412s are a great value. They made the ride nice and smooth. Someone else installed them for me, so I can't tell you much about that process, but I can tell you that if you are putting shocks shorter than 12.5" on this year/model, you have to cut down the left side of the rear fender a little to keep from hitting the belt guard.
My sportster was bottoming out with the stock shocks and upgraded to these. With my wife and I at a combined weight of 400 the bike no longer bottoms and is not too stiff either. Very happy with the shocks - clear instructions - easy install.
I replaced my fork springs earlier and waited to change the rear shocks. It was mistake. I should have changed them at the same time. My Sportster feels like an all new bike. Big improvement.
I just bought Progressive 412 shocks for my 1974 Sportster iron head. They are a great stock replacement they offer an old school look with modern technology. The bike handles and rides great now, although the soft setting was a little too soft. Got them at Dennis Kirks about $30.00 cheaper than any place else, plus free shipping. My 74 rides like a new bike!!
Great shocks, a little too bouncy for my taste. Great finish except an exposed screw on both sides without covers. If the product came with chrome screw covers it would be perfect. The shocks fit perfect and instal was perfect. Would recommend
I bought these shocks along with the fork springs to lower the height of the bike. They did exactly that. Easy to install the shocks. Fork springs required a bit more effort, but not extremely hard.
I just put these on last week after replacing my well worn factory shocks. I weigh 205 and I'm 6' tall. The second notch up is perfect for solo riding (standard spring). I could tell the difference in rear end tracking immediately. The back end feels well planted. Firm yet smooth ride. Next up is a fork spring drop in kit to firm up that front end. I tried heavier fork oil and it's still not quite right.
For the price, these shocks are great. I wanted to lower my fatbob, and they did the trick. Had to play around with the adjustments in the begginning to get it where it wouldn't bottom out, but they are fine now. Wish they were solid black.
