Overview of Progressive Suspension Chrome 444 Series Shocks - 210/250 Spring Rate (lbs/in) - 444-4233C

  • Uses the all new Frequency Sensing Technology (FST)

Nice shocks but difficult to install properly
Very nice product.
Works wonderful with a huge range of preload ability. Look and ride great with a superior to stock feel.
Install. Well took me all day and 2 trips to the hardware store. These are universal shocks and must be shimmed precisely for side clearance. Not a bolt on a go thing here.
Trick is to get the 20 thou clearance side to side on inner shock bushings once tightened down. If clearance is not correct and the shock ends cant wiggle a little once tightened. The shock will bind and not pivot as intended. It won’t work smoothly. Supplied hardware kit is OK but to do this right you need to get more hardware. I went to Home Depot and bought some Stainless washers for shims to get the right Fit. Upper mount was simple to shim with the new stainless spacer washers.
Lower mount was most difficult as factory mount stud was shorter than the shock bushing by ~1/8”. A small spacer was needed to get the clearance needed. I went through several ideas. Finally settled on making a 3/8 OD by ¼” thick spacer. Took a while but free play tension on the shock tower was now perfect when fully tightened.
A bit of work but what a ride now!
