Thinner leather & smaller glove than before
Summary: 2nd pair, quality not even close. If you have shorter, wider hands read the entire review. Firmer gel pads, thinner leather, much longer thumb, much narrower body, smaller diameter fingers.

I've loved the gloves I got as a gift 5 years ago, but things do wear out. I ordered the same size glove that I have now and was very surprised at the difference in pattern between my old gloves and the new ones. We all know leather stretches, but after two weeks these gloves weren't any closer to fitting than out of the package.

Laying both gloves flat and adjusting the wrist strap fully closed, here are the different dimensions:

At the cuff, they are 1/4" narrower, at the fingertips 1/2" narrower. The thumb is an entire inch longer than the old pair! All of the leather is noticeably thinner than the old pair which has been in use constantly for 5 years. The gel palm covers the same proportional area as the old gloves, but the gel is much firmer - which could make it last longer. Because of the different cut of the new glove, the solid gel pads just made them fit worse. At the fingertips, the centerline of the first finger on the new pair hits just between the first & second fingers on the old pair. Each finger on the new pair is 1/2" longer than on the old pair. Because of the pull between the thumb and palm, even if the new pair did stretch, I would be afraid the leather would split because it is so thin.

The gloves still look good, but if you have shorter fingers and wider hands instead of longer fingers and narrower hands, you may want to look further. I would recommend going a size larger, but on my hands the fingers would be far too long - especially the thumb which already almost touches the tip of my thumbnail.
