Adjustable Height & Adjustable Spring Load! SWEET!

October 6, 2010

This shock is great, I ordered it because it is a good price for a great shock. I was going to buy the atr low down shock(which is twice the price of the NCY Shock), but it was only because I needed a shock with an offset at the bottom and needed the spring adjustment to be at the bottom so I could get it to clear my rear tire. I have a gy6 engine swap like a lot of Ruckus owners and if you run a really wide tire in the back like me, then this shock will work perfectly, just like it is for me ;) Also, I was looking at the same shock, but for the Zuma, only difference is it has a couple more springs and is 2 inches longer. Just for reference, since I did not know before I bought his shock, the Zuma and the Ruckus NCY Shocks that look like this both have an offset at the bottom. Shock rebound is very stiff for me, but my buddy rode it who is around 100 pounds heavier than me said it felt soft when he hit a pothole. I weigh 160 lbs and have no issues with this shock bottoming out and I have it on the softest spring setting. Also another reason I bought this shock and like it is because of the height adjustment at the bottom. I can extend it 12" almost in the longest setting, even though NCY says it's only 11" fully extended. Also, if you really want you can make this around 9" at the shortest length setting. NCY is a great company and is 1 of 3 companies that I trust for quality, price. and LOOKS when it comes to Performance Ruckus or GY6 Parts!! Hope all of this helps ;) I know I wish someone had written a review like this when I was trying to make my decision on what shock to buy. Not to mention Dennis Kirk had it IN STOCK and READY TO SHIP unlike almost every other website that sells this shock, so if you want to get it right away, order it from DennisKirk.com for sure.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Good Enough For Who It's For

September 10, 2010

Was glad it was on stock and didn't take forever for it to get to my house like the other two canceled supliers that said they had it but wound up not having it to ship. When this shock came it showed signs of having been tried out (Score marks from being mounted) and then put back and sold as new. This shock is too hard to get to bother complaining about something no one can see anyway. This shock works very well. A HUGE improvement over the stock junk. Adjusted all the way down it is about a half to three quarters of an inch longer than the stock so you end up with a slighly higher ride but the improved ride more than makes up for it. You will need a slightly longer bolt than the stock one with a wave lock washer to keep it there. With that set up it won't need shims.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
