Reviews for Mustang Vintage Wide Touring Seat with Driver Backrest - 79371
Well worth the money
This review is a bit long, but if you are considering a new seat, read on. First of all It is a chunk of change, and I do try to buy inexpensive when I can because money is tight sometimes. However, I have found most of the time that when you pay cheap, you buy cheap. That's why I gave 5 stars to value. I believe that for comfort and fit this seat can't be beat. I am an older (67) long time rider who puts on 12,000+ miles a year. Comfort or the lack of it is something I know about. Like other reviews have said, my old seat would start to be a pain in the rump after 2-3 hours. Even a rest stop would not relieve the discomfort. I have had this seat on my Shadow Saber for over one month and have taken several all day rides, 6-8 hours. It is a joy to sit on. My first sit was somewhat disconcerting, it does move you slightly forward. Because of that, my thighs were not as much in contact with the seat. It felt smaller, so I measured. In my case, it is a bit over one inch wider than my old seat which was a wide bucket from Honda. By the way, no one calls me a "fat ###", but that part of my anatomy could not be referred to as petite. It actually took over a year of looking and thinking about it before I pulled the trigger. I should have bought it a year ago.I would recommend this item to a friend.
I order this seat because my back was killing me after a couple hours of riding the shock seat was not cutting it anymore . the new mustang seat is nice bolts right on all you gotta do is take the old one off an bolt the new on takes least then 5 mins to put on. Very happy with the seat it also comes with a back rest.I would recommend this item to a friend.
Not working well for me
Look and quality are great, but I needed comfort for 2011 Road Star Silverado 1700 to do longer rides. Was only lasting an hour on stock seat before discomfort started. Switched to this setup and have done a 4 hour and a 2 hour ride so far. I am only lasting about 1.5 hours before discomfort starts - had hoped for a bit longer. I am not impressed with how the main flat area transitions up at about 45 degrees to the seat back/top edge - it is straight across and very steep - leaving me with a smaller area to actually sit on. I am 5'11" 250# so not tiny but not too big. I sit right up to the tank, though my distance to grips is fine. The backrest is nice, but I tend to sit more on my tailbone when using it #again, that back slanted section on the version for the Road Star takes up a lot of room. I plan to post my comments on the Mustang site and see what suggestions they have. I feel I could either take to a seat maker and have customized for my body, or else I will sell on eBay for what I can get. Glad it has worked out for everyone else posting comments - my backside just must need something different (like the solo seat on the '09 police Road King I had - ugly but it supported entire backside#.I wouldn't recommend this item to a friend.

I ride as a passenger behind my husband and had been using a gel pad reinforced with 2 layers of memory foam. We had a stock seat and I couldn't ride any longer than an hour and would have to get off to rest my butt, even with that pad. Finally, I ordered this Mustang seat and we love it! The driver's backrest made a big difference to my husband (he said he can control the bike better & it has a better response) and I can ride much longer. The only thing I wish was different, is that the edge of the passenger seat curves up slightly, and being short (5 ft.) it kinda digs into my thigh slightly. Maybe it will be better after it gets broken in. Or I get used to it. (We've only had it a week.) I hope so! I think the seat would be better if it sloped down instead on those edges. I also wish Mustang made a seat which fit our 2004 Honda Shadow Sabre where the passenger seat was a little bigger than 12 in. wide (14 in. would be great!). Otherwise, it's soooo much better than what we had!! I wish we'd gotten it sooner!! We got our bike in late January and put up with that stock seat much too long!! I do highly recommend it!! I also highly recommend the Cobra Tall Round Sissy Bar. We got that as well and it's also soooo much better than that stock back rest!! This combination works great for us!!I would recommend this item to a friend.
