Mustang Seat

August 30, 2015

Product showed up a day earlier than promised. This seat was a game changer for my Vulcan 900 Classic. Anyone with the OEM seat knows how bad they are. Now I can ride for hours in comfort. I will need to get risers for the handlebars due to the higher and more reclined riding position. I didn't give 5 stars for value because this seat is very expensive. Worth it, but expensive.

Vast improvement over stock

July 25, 2015

I put this on my recently acquired 2009 Honda Shadow Aero, the stock was intolerable for me. The Mustang fit perfectly and seems to be good quality. I bought it based on my experience with one similar that I installed on a 2003 Harley FXDX. It does move the rider a little more forward and a little higher. At first I thought I would be too close to the gas tank but it is very comfortable, especially compared to the stock seat. I'm getting up in age and love my back support. With this seat I can burn up a full tank of gas on one ride with no discomfort. The Honda design limits what Mustang can do, it seems the bike would be better off with the gas tank a little narrower at the seat end. I gave it three stars on value because there just doesn't seem to be much there for over $600. I got the bike as a gift otherwise the cheapskate in me would never have paid that much for a seat. The passenger seat has lots of cushion and is wider than stock, I don't haul passengers but if I did I would invest in a sissy bar. When I tried sitting on the back seat I felt like I was in danger of slipping off the back. The Mustang seat on my Harley is holding up very well after a few years and I expect this one to do the same, time will tell. I recommend it if you can afford it. Just remember to try it for fit without removing any protective coverings if you can as you can't return it if it's not in brand new condition should you decide you don't like it.

mustang touring seat for victory kingpin

July 17, 2015

Nice looking seat braiding along edges of seat make the seat look nice I wasn't sure it would but i was wrong. The seat fit nice and is by far way more comfortable than the stock seat. The seat does raise you a little and brings you back a little but not enough to cause a issue. The back rest for the driver is a great upgrade and makes riding so much nicer. I would buy one all over again if I had to. high in price but worth it in my mine. Shipping was fast and Dennis kirk provided excellent customer service. thanks again.

Mustang Quality issues.

June 30, 2015

1st - Dennis Kirk excellent as usual. Have used Mustang seating on multiple bikes over the last 15 years. Twice I ordered the 79551 seating for my Yamaha Raider. Both times I returned the seating due to poor craftsmanship and defective assembly. What is going on at Mustang ??? 6/30/15. Moved onto another brand - no problems.

Well worth the money

May 31, 2014

This review is a bit long, but if you are considering a new seat, read on. First of all It is a chunk of change, and I do try to buy inexpensive when I can because money is tight sometimes. However, I have found most of the time that when you pay cheap, you buy cheap. That's why I gave 5 stars to value. I believe that for comfort and fit this seat can't be beat. I am an older (67) long time rider who puts on 12,000+ miles a year. Comfort or the lack of it is something I know about. Like other reviews have said, my old seat would start to be a pain in the rump after 2-3 hours. Even a rest stop would not relieve the discomfort. I have had this seat on my Shadow Saber for over one month and have taken several all day rides, 6-8 hours. It is a joy to sit on. My first sit was somewhat disconcerting, it does move you slightly forward. Because of that, my thighs were not as much in contact with the seat. It felt smaller, so I measured. In my case, it is a bit over one inch wider than my old seat which was a wide bucket from Honda. By the way, no one calls me a "fat ###", but that part of my anatomy could not be referred to as petite. It actually took over a year of looking and thinking about it before I pulled the trigger. I should have bought it a year ago.

Not working well for me

June 10, 2013

Look and quality are great, but I needed comfort for 2011 Road Star Silverado 1700 to do longer rides. Was only lasting an hour on stock seat before discomfort started. Switched to this setup and have done a 4 hour and a 2 hour ride so far. I am only lasting about 1.5 hours before discomfort starts - had hoped for a bit longer. I am not impressed with how the main flat area transitions up at about 45 degrees to the seat back/top edge - it is straight across and very steep - leaving me with a smaller area to actually sit on. I am 5'11" 250# so not tiny but not too big. I sit right up to the tank, though my distance to grips is fine. The backrest is nice, but I tend to sit more on my tailbone when using it #again, that back slanted section on the version for the Road Star takes up a lot of room. I plan to post my comments on the Mustang site and see what suggestions they have. I feel I could either take to a seat maker and have customized for my body, or else I will sell on eBay for what I can get. Glad it has worked out for everyone else posting comments - my backside just must need something different (like the solo seat on the '09 police Road King I had - ugly but it supported entire backside#.
