Super Sportster Seat Choice
I held off on doing a review until I had racked up some miles. I am over the 1500 mile mark on the seat, so I think I can comment now based on experience versus initial impressions.

I did pretty extensive research before purchasing this seat. I was pretty torn. I like the Le Pera and Saddlemen seats. I even sent an email to Saddlemen to ask questions about their seats. When I didn't get a response, I had it narrowed down to Le Pera and Mustang. I kept going back to the fact that people with the wide touring seat really liked it, so I pulled the trigger.

One of the things to be aware of is that there is some break-in time for the seat. So, if you pull it from the box and throw it on, don't expect it to be like sitting in your favorite recliner. Frankly, the seat is a little stiff when new. But as you start racking up miles, the seat starts breaking in, and it feels good.

I have some friends with Roadkings that scoffed a little when I went with a Sportster. But after getting this seat and putting some miles on it, I can say that I can ride as long as I would like to in a day. No more 'numb butt' syndrome like with the stock Sportster seat, just pure comfort.

If you have doubts, go to various forums and see what other riders have to say. I'm glad I did, and I'm glad that I ended up choosing this seat. Just make sure you give it some time to get it broken in before you take a long ride.

Great Seat - Highly Recommend for Sportster XL-C
This seat has many positive reviews, however, I was still somewhat skeptical and wanted to compare it to the Saddlemen Explorer. My girlfriend and I ride together, most of the time, so I was looking for more of a touring/comfort seat for us both.

I ordered both seats and the Mustang seat arrived first on Friday and was promptly installed. The seat is much wider than stock in both the driver and passenger area. I also noticed that we both sit up higher, my guess is that I'm at least 1/2" to 1" higher over the stock seat. Passenger is probably 2" higher than stock.

We put about 100-200 miles on the seat and we both felt refreshed with a new seat under our butts. This was such a ride improvement that I'm now considering NOT installing the Progressive fork springs and 412 HD shocks I purchased. The seat is firm but the bumps in the road are so much less noticeable over the stock seat it is incredible.

The Saddlemen Explorer arrived Monday and was installed. Immediately we noticed a quality issue in that the tongue (the metal part that is inserted into the bike frame at the back of the gas tank) wasn't riveted on squarely and the front of the seat was angled instead of straight behind the gas tank. The seat is also more narrow in the leg area and revealed more of the bike frame than I liked. This narrow leg area would be a good thing for short legged drivers. The rear part of the seat base was narrower than the stock seat and revealed more of the rear fender, not necessarily a bad thing but the stock seat obviously rubbed the fender and this new seat let it be seen the fender needed a buff job. I didn't like seeing the fender with the paint needing buffed. The Explorer seat was also about 1/2" longer than the Mustang seat and was hitting the sissy bar supports. This wouldn't have prevented me from using the sissy bar but brackets were leaving an impression in the seat.

In summary the Mustang seat was kept and the Explorer was only on the bike 5 minutes and seen NO ride time due to the quality issue. I'm sure I could have exchanged it for another seat that most likely would have the tongue installed correctly but the fact that I'd have to buff my fender made the decision easy. We both already like the Mustang seat and didn't make sense to evaluate the other seat any further.

Very comfortable!
I read many reviews on different seats for my Sportster. I have a friend that has a Sundowner on his bike and I almost went that route. But I decided on the Mustang instead. Very glad I did! Very comfortable indeed. No more of my butt going numb after 30 or 40 miles. This is in my opinion a better seat than the Sundowner, and after my buddy rode my bike with this seat, he wishes he would've done more research. I highly recomend this to anyone who's looking for a long ride type of seat for a Sportster. The passenger seat is un-believeable according to my daughter. A super improvement over the stock seat. I have put just over 550 miles on this seat and it just keeps getting more broke in kinda like a pair of Levi's. I will add that it does make me sit about 1" higher than the stock seat and as I have forward controls on my bike, this works out rather nicely. I hope this review is of some help to you in your search.

Boney Butt
The OEM seat on my XL1200C was killing me. After only an hour of riding my skinny butt was completely numb. Now I can ride for hours without thinking about my butt.

The seat took 3 minutes to swap, and includes putting away the screw driver.

I placed my order via the net at 8PM and it left the building before midnight.

The price was almost $90 LESS then J&P.

The best seat around
I purcased this solo seat with a back rest after induring for over a year the seat that came on my 2007 883L Sporster. I thought my back side had died and gone to heaven.

We have gone on nurmerous trips to Tenn and the only time I get tired is when we have been riding all day.

The support, comfort, style and the back rest make it so comfortable.

This is the greatest seat around.
If I have have another bike a mustang seat I would purchase

Mustang Seat Comfort
My expectations were high coming off a stock Harley seat. I really thought I could go longer distances in comfort, but I was wrong. Is it better than the stock seat? Yes, but not $400.00 worth. I probably would have been better off with a gel pad instead. Thats my 2 cents worth

Awsome seat at an awsome price
After reading several reviews and forums online i decided to purchase the Mustang over the Sundowner. My first impresion was the seat raised me up about two inches from my Stock seat on my 2008 XL1200C. so I went for a ride felt pretty ok the more I rode the better it got. After about 400 miles the seat just keeps getting better, no more numb a** it does put you about 1.5 inches higher than stock no problem for my 6'2" frame. Dennis Kirk was $50.00 cheaper than anyone else on the web.Ordered Friday had it on my bike Tuesday after noon

Awesome seat
Bought this for my wife's Sportster. Great quality, fit and finish is perfect. She loves the new seat. We took a 400 mile trip right after the install and she never complained once about discomfort. Shipped fast from DK and a great price.
