Bottom Line: I Returned This Seat
Hello Fellow Riders: First off, I will say the service I've received so far at Dennis Kirk has been outstanding.

My ride is a 2013 Triumph America.

I am 5'10", 185, 60 years old with worn shoulders and back. (Hence the NEED for a backrest.)

These seats are expensive, so I will try to pass on what I learned through my experience. Here's the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

General Info: I found this seat is not as wide as the stock seat, lacking an inch or so, The seat is slightly over an inch higher when measured to the floor and slightly higher due to the firmness and lack of shaped contour. The seat also moves you slightly forward an inch or so. I found that I was sitting almost 2 to 3 inch taller and forward of my normal riding position. Part of this is due to the backrest correcting my riding posture, which is a good thing. The bad part was it moved me up to where I was looking thru the top edge and over my windshield. This had a negative impact on both the aerodynamics and viewing down the road.

The Good: This is a nice looking seat. The backrest, it's adjustability and comfort are Outstanding. (I almost kept the seat based on the backrest alone.) The appearance is nice, but it has a fit issue. The backseat looked thicker than stock and comfortable, but was not tested.

The Bad: This seat is beyond FIRM for me. After sitting on the bike in the garage for a long time, I decided the only true test was to ride it. I installed it carefully, leaving all the shipping tape in place on the tabs. After about an hour, I was sore enough to have to stop and get off. (with my factory Triumph seat , I can ride much longer and my "seat" is not the problem, my body is). So I rode back and parked the bike. The next morning when I took a chair at the table, I noticed two "sore spots". I immediately call Jackie (THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE TECH I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH) and started the return process.

The Ugly: Besides the Firmness and Height Issue, the seat had some fitment issues too. The front of the seat appears to be a little large. By the time you pull up on the front of the seat to get it installed (a small battle), the seat rests firmly against the tank (which would rub the paint off) and the seat is "wrinkled" where it's rolled up against the tank.

The Bottom Line: I'm returning the seat (at a possible additional cost to me as I was honest about riding it) and am going to try the Saddleman Explorer with Backrest. I'll let you know how all that goes.

Note the "wrinkle" where the seat is wedged up and tight against the tank.
