How is this seat for taller riders? I am looking for a more comfortable seat but don't want to be pushed forward on the bike.
Tim H on Jun 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I am 6’4 and I have it on my ‘14 deluxe. There is not much of a difference in the comfort due to my height. I think there is a small push forward due to the backrest, but not enough for me to feel a difference from the stock seat I had. It does make a huge difference in my lower lumbar support and I can ride all day without feeling that same strain on my back. I do feel the normal riding fatigue on my legs and butt from sitting all day but I am totally fine the next day and not sore at all. I’m pretty happy with the seat! Hope that helps

Great Seat with Backrest
I received this Seat on a Friday, Installed it in all of 10 mimutes and went riding. "BY THE WAY THIS DOES FIT WITH MY ORIGINAL PASSENGER SEAT ON MY 05 HARLEY SOFTAIL DELUXE" even though it says on here that it doesn't. Great product. Easy to adjust and makes the Ride so comfortable.DENNIS KIRK also had the best price and OMG did it ship fast. THANKS DENNIS KIRK

It was an easy choice.
My first Mustang seat was for a Yamaha1200 V-Star. The stock seat was only comfortable for about 30 minutes. With the Mustang, I could ride comfortably for hours on end. When I purchased my Harley Softail Deluxe, a Mustang seat for it was one of my first purchases. It is every bit as comfortable as the one for my Yamaha...Good thing - I ride my Harley even more than I did my Yamaha. If you plan on spending hours on your ride, I think you will enjoy this seat upgrade. One item of note - I believe I sit a little further back on this seat versus the stock seat.

Point is my butt is just fine...;-)
Why else would we spend this kind of dough on a freaking seat?

The stock on my Springer Classic made the shortest trips very painful. Like, after 20 minutes painful.
As I'm about to embark on 6000 miles to the west and back, with extreme temps in all directions, this seat always seemed to come up
tops in every review and forum. Dennis Kirk's price beat all the rest as usual.

Now, I have to imagine the solo seat without the backrest would be even more comfy. I think the post housing must certainly cut into the space a little, because
when the backrest is out I can never seem to find a 'deep' pocket to put my butt back into but then again I'm 6'4" so maybe that's to be expected.

I gave 4 stars on style because it could use some kind of embellishment, anything. I want to cut the metal concho out of my stock skirt and place it on the Mustang, but then I'll never be able to sell the stock lol...
Plus it kind of almost looks orthopedic-shoeish in a strange way, but the vinyl is excellent thick grade.
Also look at the Springer CLassic basketweave theme on stock items (tank bib, saddebags, seat skirt etc) would have been nice to have that option...

Very tight fit, perfect for my softail tank/bib and I guess it's steel 'skeleton' so it should hold up nicely.
It's pretty wide. THe backrest is made of superb chromed steel. Very thick, great pivot action and thumbscrew.
And the pad blends in perfect with my other backrest!

I may look at the Brukus seat locking bolt covers ($60 yikes) because now everytime I park all I can think of is how easy it would be to take a $450 seat in under 15 seconds!!
Also, there's not a thing to prevent someone from lifting the backrest in about .15 seconds. It comes right up without effort. So much so I'm hesitant to adjust it
while riding thinking it could pop up and out anytime. Would have been nice to offer a locking mechanism from the bottom. That would have been terrific.

Well, what can I say? I haven't taken it out on the road for more than an hour so that's already 2x my tolerance from the stock!!
But there isn't a hint of fatigue or pain. And I'm to understand these break in after 1000 miles so I'm looking forward to it!

Great Seat
Bought this seat to replace the stock seat on my wife's 2009 Softail Deluxe. She can't stop raving about how comfy this seat is. She really likes the back rest too.

Very comfortable!
just returned from weekend bike trip. I was comfortable throughout the entire trip. My butt and my back were happy. Lol.

Only problem was that the seat didn't fit my '12 deluxe initially. When I called, I was told I needed to order a bracket. Would have been nice had I been told that. Customer service had at first told me I needed to call Mustang for the bracket. Mustang referred me back to DK. DK did ship it for free though.

Not what I was looking for
I'd purchased this on the recommendation of others, without trying it first. The seat didn't fit my backside, and raised me up a good 1-2 inches in the saddle compared to the OEM seat. I installed it, test drove it for an hour and then put the OEM seat back on. The aftermarket seat has been returned.

The backrest was great, I wish the seat would have fit me better.
