This tool is meant to do one thing, which is apply a set amount of force (typically 10lbs) upwards on a drive belt to measure the tension. For that purpose, it works exactly as you need it to.
Simple to use and they have apparently updated the design so that the bar you place on the underside of the belt is no longer "U" shaped as shown on product page but rather "L" (see attached pic). This will allow you to use it on both narrow and wider belts.
The markings that measure pounds of force are clearly shown on the 'plunger' and it's easy enough to read.
This is the type of tool you won't use often, but it should be in every wrenchers kit.
Spend the money and set up your belt tension per factory specs with this handy tool. I was able to fit it under the bottom belt on a 2015 Softail Slim (lowest production bike) , so all others should be no prloblem.
I bought this gauge for my 2011 Victory. The belt was loose it made noises when it was cold. then when it was tight it screamed when it was hot. I used the gauge and did it by the book and it worked great. No noise hot or cold.Good tool the keep around.
It works. Made well. It is one of those tool you will get little use from but when you need it nothing else works as good. I could have just used the twist method but i like new tools and any excuse to get them.
Been needing to purchase this tool to save some money and didn't know how much time it would save...so easy to use and a great addition to my on board tool bag...I can now keep that annoying squeak out of my belt...a little pricey for the amount of product but you guys had the best price on line for the little time I had to look before the Avons came in and needed to be installed...
