Overview of Metzeler RoadTec Z6 Tire

  • Designed for sport-touring bikes using CMT (Contour Modeling Technology) to select the proper profiles for optimum handling at all lean angles

  • FCM (Finite Carbon Matrix), a new carbon black compound structure, boosts dry grip performance up to 20 percent
  • Carcass, compound and tread design combine to provide unmatched tread life and balanced performance

If you can get them ,YES.
13000 miles from this tire then steel cords.....drops into turns well. Sticks like glue when new.Sometimes hard to find them. If they were always available I would have one on my bike now.

Great Rubber!
This is actually the 2nd RoadTec Z6 I've run on my bike, an '02 ZRX1200R. I don't ride super aggressively, but I do like to cut the twisties up on occasion. The first tire lasted easily 8-9,000 miles, and I'm happy I was able to find another to put on. Not only to match treads with the front, but for the great tire life. I never had a problem with grip, and I ride through all seasons, and conditions. Highly recommended, and it has made me a Metzeler fan for sure.

Great Tire for all conditions
Very good versatility in sun and rain, hot and cold. Ran 70mph in the rain and high wind (not on purpose) with no slipping and sliding like some other brands.
Highly recommended.

I bought the Roadtec Z6 for my '03 SV1000 when it was being clearanced to make room for the new Z6 Interact models. It was a great deal and they have served to be great tires! So far, they have about 3000 miles on them. 15% highway/25% city streets/60% twisties...0% letdowns! Note: I didn't give 5 stars on performance because I'm sure there are full race tires that will outperform. Likewise, I did not rate it as "very high mileage" because I'm sure there are some bagger tires that will last longer.

RoadTec Z6
After getting a flat rear tire and riding on a plugged tire through the mountains of TN, I was forced to stop at a dealer to get a replacement. The only tire they had in stock to fit my BMW 1150RT was the RoadTec. Being 800 miles from home, and needing a new tire, I didn't have much choice. When I got home, I bought the front RoadTec to match the rear.

I got 6200 miles out of the rear and 7000 out of the front. I don't buy tires for mileage, I buy them for performance. I prefer a softer, grippier tire. I am satisfied as far as the mileage goes.

I did not like the way these tires handled in wet conditions or the way they would slip on 'tar snakes'. Going around tight turns with tar filled cracks would make my sphincter slam shut.

I have replaced these with Michelin Pilot Road 2.

is the tread dual compound?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Do not think so have some combination of belts an compound supposed to do same thing I just put mine on so have no idea of wear
I assume that shipping costs will add to the cost of this tire therefore making it less of a good deal?
A shopper on Mar 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Under $89 is $7.99 for shipping and every tire has a $5 handling fee.
