Overview of Metzeler Roadtec 01 Tire

  •  Increased grip on wet roads, with a focus on low friction surfaces (such as city streets and worn tarmac, low temperature), thanks to radial positioning of grooves
  • Rebalanced tire stiffness to allow a better adherence of the rubber with the tarmac micro-asperities, increasing mechanical grip even on lower friction surfaces
  • Belt and carcass tension parameters upgraded to increase stability on rear tires during strong braking
  • Increased mileage vs. Roadtec Z8 Interact (up to 10%), thanks to a different footprint shape (larger and shorter) which also enhances motorcycle handling
  • Higher wear resistance, obtained through a revised land/sea ratio on the rear tire in conjunction with the new tread design, ensures product performance consistency allowing users to enjoy the tire for its entire service life
  • Metzeler multi-zone compound on selected sizes, with increased harmonization between the different compounds

Front Roadtec 01
After many years as a Metzeler guy I tried a set of Avon Storms on my 2003 Hayabusa. While they lasted forever the Avons never gave me the grip, handling or overall feeling I had come to expect. When the new Roadtec 01 came out I read all of the reviews I could find and wound up making the purchase. Wound up moving from the 200/50 series Avon rear to a 190/55 in this transition and I have to say the handling has been made much more nimble in doing so. Not nervous by any stretch, but just a lot more flicakable. Warm up and grip are both vast improvements! I cannot yet comment on the mileage but Having previously run both the M3 and Z6 rears on this bike they should do better than the ~7k I got out of the Z6! Time will tell

Pleased Customer. Note: I have not put a ton of miles on this yet
So far(500+mi) I am very pleased with the tires performance. I had some 'Caught in the rain' moments where I pushed it a little bit to see how it performed in the rain. As described it was still sticky and great on those not so great days here in PA. As for regular weather twisties as well as relaxed riding the tire grips well and I never felt as if I was not able to really attack corners and be worried. I only put a 4/5 on mileage and wear because I have not put a ton of miles on this tire yet but It performs well in wet weather and is grippy as well as in clear weather.

If you were wondering I ride a 2016 KTM 690 Duke

Metzeler Roadtec 01
I installed the Roadtec 01 HWM tires on my 2008 BMW R1200RT replacing Michelin PR4's that I really liked.I rode cross country putting over 6200 miles on the roadtecs in all weather, heat and driving rain. Most of the riding was on interstates,so center wear was my biggest concern. After coming home and looking at the tires,I would guess there is still 3000 of wear on them..I am very impressed, better dry handling than the michelins and comparable wet handling. They might exhibit a little more road noise although.I'd buy another pair and recommend them.
