Performs as Advertised
I ride a 1978 KZ1000A. I wanted an up-grade to radial
tires, but unfortunately no one makes a radial tire that fits
the narrow OEM rims of vintage bikes. Metzler adresses
this problem with the Lasertec series tires. While not a radial, Metzler claims radial performance. The Lasertec
delivers ! The ride is smooth and very comfortable. Handling is precise, and traction is excellent in both dry
and wet conditions. Braking is sure and stopping distance
is decreased. A thousand Kaw is heavy and so am I, but
after 4000+ miles treadwear is minimal. Metzler lives up to
their reputation as a premiun brand. I intend to stay with
Metzler Lasertec.

Great purchase for my Gs500
I bought these per the Dennis Kirk recommendation of stock tire sizes that fit my bike. I bought a used GS500 that was obviously not taken care of, and was ridden around on dangerously low tires. I tried to inflate the tires that were on the bike, but found them dry rotted. After replacing both front and back with these Metzelers, I've never felt more comfortable riding. This is my second season on this bike, and first with these tires. They do well in wet and dry conditions, and give me the safety and peace of mind I need to ride in traffic, or on a long winding road. Anyone wanting to buy a replacement tire that doesn't need an extreme street compound, I can definetly recommend these without question

Good rain tire!
I live on the Oregon coast and ride year 'round so a tire with good wet weather performance is important to me. The only thing I would see for this tire is a liitle longer tread life. Other than that I am very happy with this tire.

Metzler Lazertech Rear130-90V tire
I put this tire on my 250 Ninja, and am very pleased with it. It required no balance weights, which is a characteristic that I found when I put one on my BMW- it required very little in the way of balance weights. To me, this indicates very good quality control. Cornering, rain grooves, wet pavement, and bridge deck grating are all no problem with this tire. My experience is that these tires last pretty well- around 10, 000 miles, more on the Ninja since it's a light bike.

Better than Metzler 88 Marathon in my opinion
Since there were not many Metzler options for my 1992 BMW K75RT, I thought I would try the other choice. The price here at Dennis Kirk was a bit cheaper then the 88 Marathon and glad I did try it so far. It is real smooth in transitions and seems all around smoother. I haven't had many chances to check it's stickyness yet, still breaking in. I suppose it may be a softer tire with a lower weight (B) rating but that may a good thing. The 88 Marathon (C) seemed more like a truck tire and I really didn't get many miles out of it anyway, 6000. I will be replacing the front with a Lasertech when the time comes. Can't really comment on mileage yet since I have only been riding it for about 2 weeks. We'll see.

It's a Metzler. They are the OEM for my BMW and, well, they are what they are. Used Michelin Pilot Actives as well. The Metzler is not as good with rain and get grabby when they wear down. I would try to get a Michelin first, but am still happy with the Metzler.

Always been a Metzeler fan
This is on a 2014 Triumph Scrambler.
The bike came with "dual sport" tires, that sadly lasted 3,000 miles (Bridgestones).
I had a HECK of time hand mounting these tires, (front and rear)!!
(I've been spinning wrenches on bikes for well over 45 years, so I'm no "newb")
Got the rear on (after pinching NEW tube).
They roll nice, only 60 miles so I can't say how they are over all, but like the ride!

Can i go a size wider on the rear tire of my gs 500?
Johnny T on Oct 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, there is all kinds of clearance issues. My daughter's GS-500 had a one size larger tire on it when she got it. Didn't notice that chain guard had been notched out along with rear fender for clearance. An issue that wasn't quite as clear was the holes the tire had worn through fender up where the tire rubbed when it hit bumps or was riding double. We replaced rear fender and reinstalled stock sized tire. I do not recommend putting an over size tire on this particular motorcycle. I hope this helped.
