I bought this engine guard two years ago for my new cruiser. Man these bikes are heavy at 1 mph while turning or otherwise. The first time it paid for itself I let the front wheel slide on sand in a parking lot 45 degree lean minor scratch on guard. Second time wife stepped on left passenger board before I was ready 45 degree lean minor scratch on other side. Third time I let it fall it rolled far enough to pin me, hellfire I rode it to the pavement. I was able to pull my leg out. The only damage was another minor scratch on the guard and now the leather saddlebag. BUY an engine guard worth every penny. As for the longevity of the chrome it shows a little light rust at the bottom bolt flange. My bike sits on a concrete pad with a nylon cover. So the bottom is subject to water. These 1 1/4" tubes are beefy and tough. When installing be sure to leave all hardware very loose and use a socket wrench and you can lean on the tubes a little with the socket and free hand to get the last bolt started on either bottom flange. MC Enterprise price is the best but the overall value is priceless.
These MC Enterprise engine guards have an excellent fit and finish and are of high quality. Instatllation was straight forward and well documented. The quality is also high and I found them to be the best style of the half dozen or so of engine guards I researched. The value was excellent and I would recommend them and the Dennis Kirk enterprise highly to everyone.
I had purchase this MC guard for my Suzuki 1500 intruder. They look totally awesome on the bike. I also installed pegs on it so I put my feet up. I have had them on my bike now for 10 years and they look as awsome as the day I put them on. The chrome is holding up excellent with no rust. 27,000 miles later still shine perfectly!! A perfect accesory to purchase. WELL worth the money hands down!
I put this engine guard on my 07 roadliner and was not disappointed. It made my bike look a little bit bigger. I'm a big guy. So anything that makes my bike look bigger is cool with me. I bought it so I could put highway pegs on for the long rides. It fit good. Just had to adjust it a little before tightening all the bolts. Otherwise the fork tubes would just touched the bar.
As a first time user of this website I found it was very easy to find the item I was looking for and after comparing it to several other websites found that it was a very fair price. It came in earlier then what was expected which was great for getting it installed and me back out on the road riding. I will continue using this company for all my purchases. Thank you!
I returned the jardine highway bar and bought the mc bar for my roadliner. The roadliner Is alot of bike. So I didn't want a bar that would look to small. This bar fits great and makes the bike look like even more of a beast. I installed the bar by myself in less than 30 min. I'm not a certified pro. But I've been working on my own bikes and helping friends on their bikes for more than 10 years. So if your not sure about doing it yourself. the directions are pretty good. Invite a friend over, have a few beers, figure it out, and have a few victory beers when the job is done.
Took just over an hour to install it by myself, instructions recommend two people but I think a second person would have just gotten in the way... Went on rather easy on my '99 Honda Shadow, and looks great. Only issue I had was that a few of the bolts seemed to be a little too long, but since I have tons of bolts laying around it wasn't hard for me to find a slightly shorter one that fit better. Now to go put on the highway pegs!
Well made and look sharp. HOWEVER MC Enterprises could not have actually bolted these up to a VN1500. Take the instructions that come with the bar and set them on fire and use common sense instead. If you follow the instructions you will end up cursing and you will never get these installed. Be prepared to use brute force to get the holes to align. It is definately a two man job. I came very close to boxing these up and shipping them back as the installation was painful. Once I got them on, they do add to the look of the bike and they are very well made.
I ordered the guards using the fitment guide on the site and the guide indicated that the guards should fit my 1997 Yamaha Virago 750. My bike was included in the listing of models that the guards should fit. They did not fit. A bracket of some type (if available) would have to be used to attach to the guards and then to the engine. I contacted Dennis Kirk and they are great about returns so that is what I am doing. There is nothing wrong with the guards other than they don't fit my model bike as stated.
The only complaint I have is that the lower bolt mounts did not match up with the bike. The welded-on bracket was just a couple millimeters off, allowing me to bolt on only one bolt. Good enough, I suppose, but not a perfect fit without enlarging the misaligned bolt hole. Still, finish, appearance, and quality are top notch, and installation was straightforward, even for a novice like me.
