mac 2/1 exhaust
Fit and finish are very good, sound is a little throaty, louder than stock, but sounds good. Also much lighter than original exhaust by atleast 20lbs or so. 81 cx500 custom.

CX 500 C exhaust
This was my only option for a replacement for a rotted old exhaust and I am very pleased. Bike sounds nice with the baffles in. Nice and light and assembled in a snap.

This exhaust is a nice system for the cx500. It is a little louder then factory and makes the engine somewhat sound like a v8 engine. I love how it sounds now. The installation is pretty much straight forward. You will need to adjust the brake pedal, so the brake pedal doesn't hit the exhaust. The pedal it's self will be a little lower then the factory setup. I took mine off to adjust. I found that it's easier to put the right header on first, then the left head after. Then connect the two heads and put the clamp on. There is a black bracket with a lip in the kit, It's a hanger that is suppose to go under the center clamp and bolt to the mount above where the H-pipe used to be. I left the hanger out. Then you need to mount the muffler. Once installed make sure you clean the pipes before getting them hot so the stains don't stay in the chrome. You should also get some new exhaust crush gaskets here on dennis kirk part # 261062 or VE1006. I plan on rejetting my 1979 yet, with 90/120 jets. 3 mixture screws out.

As said earlier I took my brake pedal off. I realigned it and so that it doesn't hit the exhaust when you release foot pedal. Underneath the lever is the factory stopper. Which is not long enough with the nut on. Take the entire screw out of the brake pedal and the nut use to lock it in place. Take the nut off the screw. Put the screw back into the pedal and screw it in about half way, now put the nut on the screw so now the nut is other side of bracket. Adjust the screw til the pedal doesn't hit the exhaust. Then tighten that nut up and it's locked in place. First time install 4 hours. Good luck.

Looks good. Wants to leak. I had to seal it with clear caulk. It also rubs on the lowest motor mount bolt. It's worth the price and is a great value.

1982 Honda CM450c
First of all, Dennis Kirk's participation in my purchase was most satisfactory... However,
This 2-1 MAC system can be installed on a 82 Honda CM450c, but I don't think it should.
This bike has a finned housing on the bottom front of the engine which covers an oil cooler and the starter. Both of the MAC head pipes pass directly over this housing within a 1/4" and then rests hard against the oil pan under the engine. With single wall exhaust tubing the heat transfer into the oil and starter is not good. The bends in the headers are too tight and there is no way to adjust the pipes for more clearance. The header pipes are routed so the oil filter must be moved sideways to replace the filter. Also note that after installing the MAC system the stop on the original left muffler will be gone and the centerstand will rest on the underside of the drive chain. The MAC muffler has a removable baffle but has no packing and is not designed for packing material. Once installed the pipes can't be returned. So beware!! I am buying two mufflers and reinstalling the original pipes.
