NOTE: This bag is designed to be mounted to a sissy bar. There is one large 9" tall strap that's velcro adjustable to mount around a bar. There are two straps in the front of the bag that will allow a little more pull for extra security
The product is better constructed than I expected and holds its shape even when empty, but still has enough give to contain whatever is stuffed inside. The multiple exterior D-rings are a plus for attaching more gear, and I run a cable ski lock through a ring and the sissy bar to keep someone from walking off with the bag. I originally thought the small exterior pockets would be a waste, but on my first long trip, I really appreciated them to keep maps, flashlight, etc. accessible.
The only negative is the sheet of next to worthless mounting instructions that come with the bag, but that's not a problem. There is an excellent video with clear instructions on the manufacturer's web site.
Can use it on the front of your sissy bar as a great back rest also on the back of your sissy bar. Side pockets store alot of items also has easy access to the main compartment. The handle on top makes for easy carrying.
This is the second Kuryakyn Ultratour Bag that I have purchased. The first one has been on the bike every day since 2009 and acts more as a tourpak. It's held up great and offers a lot of storage space. Not to mention, it's withstood many storms while on the road. Everything has always been dry with the included rain cover. I made a plate that attaches to my luggage rack, so the bag has a solid firm support. But Kuryakyn makes a universal mounting plate now, that attaches to bikes, making the bag very secure and stable on any machine. I would highly recommend this bag to others.
Just returned from a four day trip to Ocean City Motorcycle Fest. This bag preformed flawlessly. The ample storage space will tempt you to take more than is needed, as I did but there was still room to bring home another riders overflow. Attached the bag to the rear seat and sissy bar and it never budged. The ability to use it as a back rest was nice for those long stop lights and traffic back-ups.
Kuryakyn doesn't disappoint with their products. The features of this bag are exceptional with its watertight zippers, multiple expanding compartments, mounting options, and D rings to secure additional luggage, nets, etc. With the included straps, I cant see why you wouldn't be able to mount this to any bike. Not to mention, it'll hold a full case of beer.
A fantastic tour bag and a must for those roadtrips. Too many compartments to mention but with great access and storage capacity. Very sturdy construction and should hold up for quite some time. Well worth the price. We also purchased the Classic Tour Bag to add to the top for those really long trips.
While the name isreputable, and the product seems to be a good value, the main zipper brokeafter a few uses, I called Kuryakyn, but since the short warranty has expired,I'm on my own! I was told from customer relations to take it to a local shoerepair store or such. It sounded like I was not the first. I reside in a smalltown and to my disbelief I saw "TWO" KURYAKYN bags sitting on thestore's shelves to have their "Waterproof" Zippers repaired. What alet down from a big name!!
Got this yesterday. Good quality, I like the water resistant zippers. Bag is rigid empty or full. On a regular sissy bar luggage rack it doesn't set very stable but turn it around and put it on the seat and it is very stable and serves as an excellent back rest. Lots of room and storage. The built-in (sewn on attached) tie downs for the luggage rack aren't the strongest stitching so I don't rely on them. Haven't used the rain cover but at least it has one. Easy to carry a weeks worth of clothing and then some.
The bag was everything I expected it to be. It fits nicely on the bike. When I saw the box it came in, I was afraid it was going to look too large, but it looks great. But here's the most amazing thing - I placed the order at 5:30 PM on Monday. It arrived at 5:10 PM Tuesday, the next day. That's less than 24 hours! I live 60+ miles away from the Dennis Kirk store. When the email said that my new bag would arrive the next day, I was skeptical. But this was unbelievable. A good product at a better price than everywhere else I looked, and it arrived in a better than timely manner.
Took on trip to Harley's 105th anniversary in Wisconsin. Logged on over 2000 miles. All ratings excellent, especially durability. Gave 3 stars for fit/finish only in regards to the wide velcro band that goes around the passenger backrest, not the bag itself. The agrressive velcro dug into the stitching on the Harley backrest , pulling it out. When I discovered this, I put a cloth in between to act as a buffer. If Kuryakyn addresses this problem, it should get all 5 stars. Great product!
This bag holds a lot of stuff. The outside pockets are easy to get to when you're at a roadside stop, and the tiedowns work very well. Once tied down, this bad won't budge. I couldn't find a comparable bag in this price range.
I bought this for use with my Softail Deluxe, which has a small luggage rack and no backrest/sissy bar. It's a great bag but no amount of bungie cords will keep it from wobbling side to side. It's going to have to go on my boyfriend's bike for our 8-day trip. That said, it's a very well made bag and plenty roomy enough for all of my stuff for 8 days and some of his, too. Wish it fit my bike better but that's my fault, not the bag's.
It was my mistake to not have more carefully looked at the dimensions on this bag. I found this to be an awesomely designed bag, and if I had a full-sized Cruiser, it would've been ideal. However, I have a "baby cruiser", a 1988 Yamaha Route 66 Xv250.
So, with no hassles and a full refund, I returned it for the "Full Dresser". Leaving off the Top Roll bag for around town, the Full Dresser is ideal for my "Wannabe" Cruiser.
If I had the V-Star or Virago 920 or 1100, the Ultratour would have found a home.
Couldn't be happier with this bag. It is large enough to hold a weeks worth of clothes yet not so large that it looks awkward on the bike. Fit and finish is great. Very easy to mount and very secure when riding.
Needed extra storage to carry on my 1st long trip with my new Street Glide. It's bigger than I really needed but for the price, it was better than smaller bags for more money. I even had some extra room for souvenirs I bought for family to bring back.
