Better off to spend the extra 2 or 3 bucks and buy the K&S lights. Had problems with these right out of the package. one was in two pieces, JB Welded it back together rather than returning them. VERY fine wires, and hard to work with. When it came time to install these the hollow bolt snapped in two before the lock washer was even flattened out. The K&S lights have heavier wires, the LEDs and wires are sealed into the housing and the bolt portion actually feel like it's made out of steel.
After removing the clutter from the stock license plate/lighting assembly I needed a clean way to light up my plate. These bolts did the trick. Blue cast LED light on the plate. Need both to light entire plate. Used Drag Specialties Acorn Plate Bolts on the bottom to match up the look. Caution: The wiring will go through the bolt, plate, backing lock ring and nut, so anytime you might change your plate, you'll need to disconnect the wires. I used a quick disconnect.
Installed on an 07 Harley Street Bob side mount license plate. Slightly bluish light which looks nice and lights up plate well.
The only feature that slightly bothers me is the regular nuts used to secure the lights. I have seen other similar lights use acorn nuts with a hole drilled in the tip for the wires to come thru. Acorn nuts would look better.
Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend these lights.
the set of license plate bolt lights are a replacement, The first set I purchased had one light go out. And would not light up. The second set I purchased was installed with extensive refitting because the bolt was considerably longer than the first pair. On the positive side the did shine much brighter than the first pair.
Best thing I can say about these ... they were amazingly bright for the VERY short amount of time they were on. I wanted to use them, but never got passed the initial mock up. Pre-installed for position, went to remove them to continue a few steps before resting them in their final position, and BOTH wire leads popped off! They weren't snagged, twisted, or bound up in any way ...they weren't even bolted on! Someone with REALLY good eyesight and excellent soldering skills could have possibly saved them ...but honestly I shouldn't have even been in the situation in the first place. Very disappointed with Kuryakyn on these. Great concept, poor execution.
