Fitment for Kuryakyn Flip Blades for Models w/SweptWing Floorboards - 7541
I installed these on my 09 Fat Boy. They look great. Almost like something out of a Road warrior movie when they are extended. I've received tons of complements. The install was fairly simple. You do have to drill out some holes in your stock floor boards, but the mounting plate makes putting the holes in the right spot stupid proof. Took a total of about 1.5 hours to install both. As for the fit, I am about 5'8". I have street slammers on my fatboy, stock seat, so my reach is already extended. I am barely able to reach the blades fully extended. I actually fold them about half way in to be functional. Never the less, they look great on the bike. they are staying on!
I loved the concept of these but not very practical. I commute an hour each way to work so a variety of foot positions is a must. I transition from straight rural highway/interstate to curvy roads. These would have been perfect except for my personal need of moving these in and out at different times along my route. The only way to work the peg in and out is to reach down with your hand and flip it out and to unlock them, also with your hand, to get them in. I thought maybe they were spring loaded or could be done with your foot, like switchblade pegs. Didn't seem very safe to do this at speed. I also like plug and play so drilling holes in my existing footboard was not what I wanted to do. The thickness the pegs added would have guaranteed a lot of dragging in turns. The quality seemed good and I loved the style. I don't care for drilling so fit could have been good but once I saw the operation, I didn't attempt to install.
