Do I have to cut my bike harness to install?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, you just unplug the bike lights wires, plug in the trailer harness wires where you just uncoupled and plug in the original bike light wires in the other coupler on the Plug & Play. Simple instructions and photos explain it all. The connector kit is high quality and easy to install but the 5 pin round trailer connector is not high quality and you have to find a 5 to 4 wire adapter to connect to the trailer, not easy to find. If your trailer is a 4 wire just buy the flat 4 Plug & Play kit instead. It is more water proof and makes a better connection. That's what I had to do.
Is there an adapter to go from this 5 way plug to a flat 4 prong plug for the trailer?
A shopper on Aug 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I thought I could find an adapter locally so I didn't order the one suggested, none found locally so I ordered the one they suggested, no longer available. They gave me the phone number of Kromewerks and they said they had nothing and to order the flat four harness. I had already installed the 5 wire on the bike and rode it so I could not return it. I then purchased the Kromewerks flat 4 elsewhere, yes I was upset .The harness itself is very high quality but the metal 5 wire male & female connector is made in China and very poor quality, the closing cover is supposed to lock to the trailer connector but the peg on the cover and depression and the connector it is supposed to drop into don't even line up and the cover actually pushes the male connector out of the socket. A national part store does sell a 5 round to flat 4 adaptor for Japanese trucks & cars to pull trailers but it is too big for a bike with an electronic box midway in its 7" cord. Just buy the flat 4, it may not look as good as the round chrome (which is the reason I originally purchased it) but the 4 wire flat is all one piece with the harness and more rain proof. We rode 7,777 miles in May & June on The Run For The Wall ride, Washington State to Wash. D.C. and back and had no problem with this harness.
how many terminals in the trailer adapter?
Greg S on Mar 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There are 5 wires from the Plug & Play all the way to the bike mounted trailer connector, my trailer is 4 wire flat. I bought this kit because I wanted a chrome metal connector instead of a rubber 4 flat connector hanging off the hitch.I thought I could by the 5 to 4 adapter locally but there are none at our local stores. Also the metal connectors with this kit (both male & female) are smaller diameter than the standard size we are familiar with and cannot be adapted to the standard size connector. The 5 pins in the connectors are smaller diameter as well. Will not work with anything else. I called Dennis Kirk to order the adapter and it is no longer available, I was given the Krome Werks number to call and see if there were any adaptors anywhere in the US, Krome Werks said no there aren't and they gave me the part # to order another Plug & Play from Dennis Kirk. Of course mine has been on the bike since February and probably can't be returned since it's electrical, so I ordered a 4 wire flat Plug & Play from the other retailer. It will be delivered tomorrow. A 5 to 4 wire adaptor does exist for cars & trucks at "part stores" but I didn't have any more room under my seat for another electronic box so I passed on that option. An RV retailer 40 miles away could not find any thing that will fit those odd size connectors either. Good Luck Greg, if your trailer is 4 wire, just buy a 4 wire Plug And Play.
I need the 5-4 wire conver where can I buy this?

Works great. Almost an easy install.
Works great on my 2010 tri glide with escapade trailer. Don't care much for the connecters that come with it. Screws are too small for my eyes. Lol. Heads up tho, the connections under the seat aren't the first ones and easy to get to that you see. I struggled for hours with lights until I found out about connection under the seat brace. Use that one !!

Five Pin OddConnector
Ordered this part and did not install it. I read the one previous review and sent it back. This harness would limit the towing vehicle because of the five pin road connector.
