I bought this as my first jacket and I couldn't be happier with it. It has the removable liner so I can wear this jacket on the hot sunny days or with the rain and colder weather. The jacket is very durable and fits comfortably. I would recommend this jacket to anyone out there on a bike!
It's a cool jacket. I rode at my home Island, always a 90 F summer and winter, in a textile enduro jacket and turned around after a few sogging minutes to swap jackets. No more sweating, feel the breeze coming true! No experience with the liner, it hardly rains overhere so no comments on that. It's a cool, good looking no nonsens jacket with reflective striping, a nice safety thing. Too bad the spineprotector is an extra. The fit is a bit small but snug. No flapping around at speed. Even this international back order went through without a hickup. A nice note to the mails from Customers Service they are really friendly and helpfull, my kind regards to them.
I came from a Cortech mesh jacket that was too large after I had lost some weight. I ordered the Phoenix 5.0 in an xxl tall. The length is excellent. I am 6'6" and the length is more than adequate. The belly section is a little larger than I would prefer. The jacket has no taper to it and actually bulges in the mid section. In addition to the lower waist adjusters, it would be nice to have the ability to cinch the sides down around the flank areas. That aside, the fit is very good, with the arm curvature in just the right spot. Quality is, in my opinion, slightly lesser than the Cortech jacket I had. The Cortech jacket was made of slightly heavier fabric. Also, although the rocket jacket is virtually see-through, I felt the mesh of the Cortech breathes a little better, while also being more protective. I really do like the back better on the Phoenix jacket though. The back pad is ventilated and is therefore much more comfortable. It would also be nice for Rocket to offer this jacket with a quilted liner like Cortech does. Bottom line, this jacket is a nice jacket, but if I could do it all over again, I'd buy the Cortech jacket instead.
Fits snug as it should. I'm 5'11" pushing 210 and the XL is a good fit. It would fit better (more airflow) with a little less "me" which is a different motivation. Have the blue one and ran it on a 92° day and kept as cool as you could be on a 92° day. Very light, easy mobility, and great protection. I am very happy with this purchase.
This is really nice jacket. The fit was right on. There is a good amount of protection. I can't wait to get out on the road. I hurt my knee so it might be awhile. I would recommend this jacket to anyone
First let me say I ordered the Hi Vis color and it looks great with black. I ordered a medium and it fits me absolutely perfect. I am 5'7 174 lbs 33 inch waist 42 inch chest and about a 33 or 33 1/2 sleeve length. I went for a short ride today and it was very comfortable at 80 degrees. I have a riders backrest and the back protector did not seem to cause any problem when I leaned against it.I'm anxious to try this jacket on a chilly morning wearing a thermal t plus a regular t and the liner.I need for this jacket to work from about 50 degrees on up.
This is a great jacket. I have been looking for something to wear in warm weather (I live in Alabama), and this is perfect! The air goes right through on arms, and is pretty good around the chest area. I am sure it would be cooler if you took out the back pad, but I would rather have the protection. Size is true (supposed to not be flappy), so be sure to use the chart based on jacket size.
Thank God for Joe Rocket! finally a jacket that really means the size they say. Yes I bought the 5X and it fit with some room to spare. The only issue was a hole in the mesh in the left pocket, but I will contact Joe rocket. The jacket has good length and just plain outright comfortable. There are plenty of adjustment points to make the fir that you desire. The jacket has good amour and it is large enough and moveable to the place you need it.
For a couple of years I have worn a Tour Master Air Intake 2 jacket. The Air Intake 2 is also a great jacket for colder weather as it has two liners--a waterproof liner and a thermal liner. In colder weather, the Tour Master is warmer. However, when taking the liners out on warmer days, the jacket becomes somewhat loose and baggy. The Joe Rocket Phoenix 5 is equal in quality as the Tour Master and has more sporty styling. Also, the Phoenix 5 is lighter and less bulky for warm days. The Phoenix 5 still has a removable water resistant liner that unlike the Tour Master, can be worn seperatley as a rain jacket. I am 5'8" and 155 lbs and the Large fits perfectly.
The Phoenix 5.0 mesh fits me like all Joe Rocket jackets I've owned, excellent. The Fieldsheer, large fit tight, Icon and Speed & Strength were close, but the overall quality and construction of the Rocket keeps me loyal,(20 years worth).
