The pants fit a 42 comfortably. The rise is low and length just a tad long for 32 legs. But very useful for fit once on the bike. The lining was taken out ,I have no use for it. I use the pants as primary wear. Use underwear or heat gear type clothing. A bit warm at 80F and OK to 60F. I ride with a windshield so using the liner would be a good idea for colder weather or rain. The hip padding will help but could use a bigger pad. The cost is very, very good.
I had a hard time looking for a brand of riding pants that would fit me. I am 6'5" 310lbs with larger than normal legs. I typically get pants that are 46" waist. I wear these pants every day commuting to work. I ordered the 4xl and they fit perfect over my work clothes. Liner needs to be in for pants to be waterproof. Liner is removable.
Good: they really are waterproof and wind proof with the liner in. The pants have a lot of adjustments to customize a good fit. I ride through the winter(Pittsburgh) in these pants and there is no chance of getting cold in the area these pants cover. The liner has elastic cuffs at bottom of pant legs. Velcro on pants holds up well. Pant material is very durable. I have worn them almost every week day for a year and a half. Haven't wrecked in these pants but they have hip and knee armor.
Cons: you will sweat your balls off in the summer heat, even with the liner out. Little to no ventilation. With liner in during rain, legs feel wet in rain but are dry. Imagine putting on a latex glove and submerging your hand in water.
First I ordered the wrong size. Sure easy and fast exchange thanks to Dennis Kirk! Wore the pants on a day that it was drizzling rain and 43 degrees. Stayed perfectly dry and warm. Was comfortable and easy to move around in. Only complaint or word of caution is the fabric along side of the leg zippers have a tendency to get caught in the zippers. Just hold the material to the side while zipping and your shouldn't have any problems.
Joe Rocket makes some great gear! I love these pants they fit a little big, but it works out that I could wear a pair of jeans under them. I wear a size 32W -34L and the large worked great! I got stuck in a heavy rain for an hour and I stayed dry well worth the money! Plus I felt safer with them on. Will buy again, I bought a pair similar in 2005 and they lasted till now And they still look good just wanted to update for a new bike.
