This was my 3rd pair of boots I ordered via the web. The other two were different brands and just did not fit comfortably for the price one must pay. Upon receiving these I immediately knew they were going to work out fine. I did however take some advice I found elsewhere about ordering a size larger than you normally wear. My foot is a 11 wide thus I ordered a 12. Never in my life have I worn a 12 but these fit just like an 11 wide to me. I love the twist / turn lacing and pull to release. The laces simply get slack as you remove your foot and are ready to easily slide into when ready to put them on again. I wore them around the house for a couple hours several days in a row thinking my feet will eventually get tired of them. But to my surprise - no way - they were perfect. No break in required. I have yet to wear them outside or on the bike as we got hit with some white stuff but I'm sure they will be fine. Oh - I did sit on the bike and start it up and run through the gears to ensure shifting would not be an issue which it was not (no problems at all).
So - I can't speak to durability / protection - but I don't think there will be any issues. However I did find some review on the previous version of the boots where a person suggested to add some additional waterproofing to ensure no issues which they have had none. Thus I will be doing that as an added precaution (don't want to be stuck on a multi day ride with wet boots).
I love Dennis Kirk service - being I live in the same state I was very fortunate to get my order in past their 8:00 p.m. deadline for same day shipping and yet received my order the very next day (thank you Dennis Kirk).
I am not one to write reviews (at best one a year) - but both this product and Dennis Kirk receive kudos for their excellent product and awesome service.
Ordinarily I wear a size 12 boot but this boot required a size 13 and it still is quite snug...almost too tight. I'm wearing it around the house for a day or two to better break it in. Hopefully, the boot will adjust to my foot. The "BOA" lacing system is new to me on MC boots. This will also require some adjustment on my part. It is nice not to lace and unlace these boots...saves time and grunt. Overall, the boots appear well made and certainly sturdy. A good value purchase.
