I found the low rating interesting. I don't know how that person treated the gators to have them fall apart but I've owned three pair over the last decade and all have lasted as long as I've had the bikes I bought them for (I gave them to the bike buyers along with other things to sweeten the deal so I bought another pair for subsequent bikes). I've used them in downpours and snow. Of course, I also use common sense and don't scrape them along the pavement or allow them to touch hot pipes, etc. But they're the best gators I've seen for rain since they cover the knee and offer full coverage from the knee down. Wouldn't be without mine. In fact, I'm buying yet another pair right now.
Have only tried the rain gators for fit and ease of getting them on. They seem to be very well made and I can only hope they work as well as they appear they might. They should be a lot better than baking in rain pants during a short summer downpour.
