Excellent fit and weight. Great amount of pockets and nice removable liner.
What a great jacket! I replaced an old Castle Racing jacket with the Peak 2. While the Castle served me very well for many years it was time to make a change. After much shopping around and trying on many jackets I settled on the Peak 2.
The Peak 2 size seems to run about the same as the Klim jackets I tried on, and definitely larger than the Castle or FXR of similar size. What sold me most on this jacket was the fact that it is a 3 in 1, which gives me more options to stay comfortable while out riding. The outer material is a bit heavier than I expected it to be, but that’s not such a bad thing because I frequently ride the wind blown ditches, lakes and trails of Minnesota, which at times can be warm during the day and cold at night. It also seems to be very tough and rip resistant. These conditions make it necessary for me to have versatile outerwear.
I went back and forth between this jacket and the Klim Kaos. Both had many features I like, but the HMK had more that won me over in the end. The removable liner (that can be worn as a light jacket itself), better timeless design, color, and number of pockets were what won me over in the end. That and nearly everyone I know wears Klim from head to toe and I wanted to be different. Since HMK isn’t worn by many here, this turned out to be a great choice!
I have to admit that I bought this jacket based only on pictures and online reviews. I wasn’t happy with the fit or weight of any of the other brands so I gave this a try. It seems as most of the other brands are built for the more “trim” crowd out there while the HMK leaves a bit more breathing room for us barrel chested guys.
One thing I might suggest to HMK would be to put a bit of reflective piping, writing, or logos on the jacket to aid in night time visibility. There is little to know reflective anything on this jacket. We all get caught out riding at night no matter what kind of terrain we ride, and it is my feeling that this might make these jackets just the much better.

All the key features I wanted!
I am a really picky when it comes to the features I require for skiing and snowmobiling. Here's what I look for:
- 3-in-1 zip in liner
- removable hood
- heavy duty outer shell that breathes with a mesh liner to promote moisture transmission
- lots of big pockets (zippered)
- powder skirt
- flap over the main zipper
- pit vents
- fleece liner
- velcro cuffs
- long enough sleeves
- elastic cord at the bottom

First, I'm a very warm natured person that can sweat by just thinking about my task; so a 3-in-1 jacket is required for those days when it gets too warm on the trail and I can pull the liner. It also makes it much easier to dry out the jacket after a long hot day.
Hood has to be removable--nothing worse than a hood behind my helmet flapping and catching snow.
Flap over the main zipper may not seem like a big deal, but go out on a -20 day and see if that zipper really does seal out the wind...the flap is great and this one is magnetic...love that.
Pockets are good size and there's one on the back that's huge (not shown on pics).
Sleeves are very long which makes it nice for reaching and leaning the sled without the cuff riding up your arm and out of the glove gauntlet.
I like fleece liners better than nylon covered thinsulate...I sweat so much that the nylon gets wet and feels horrible when you have to put on a damp jacket after lunch...fleece is just better--I think it transmits the moisture better. Coupled with the breathable shell and mesh liner, it works best (I've owned both kinds).
The back is also sculpted longer to cover your back side while seated on a sled or lift...nice touch. Great design by HMK.

I'm 6'2" weigh about 235 (wear a 48 long suit) and I got the XXL...it's just a hair on the big side for me. but I like the room to move. Might have been able to use the XL, but I'll take the extra fabric. Thanks DK for doing the beat it by a buck too!

whats the hmk stand for?
A shopper on Oct 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Its short for Highmark.
Is this sizing chart accurate? It has me a Medium when I normally buy XL.
Mark S on Nov 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Klim has the identical 38"-40" chest size for a medium as well. So if you are an XL in Klim, you should be an XL in HMK. As far as the beat it by a buck, please contact 1-800-969-7501 when ordering and they can assist you, I cannot adjust orders. Thanks Mark!
