I wanted the helmet with the sunvisor and really like it... its easy to put down and take up with out removing a glove.. the only thing the lens could be a little darker but is still nice on a sunny day... I guess I could use sun glasses too, but the fit for me is great... seems like a nice quality helmet.. I would recommend it...
Just bought a Sy-Max II HJC Modular Helmet. Overall quality is great, visor quality also great: the peripheral vision is much better than that of my old full-coverage helmet. The inner sun visor is real handy and easy to use. The inner padding is easy to remove for cleaning or replacement. If you are trying to figure what size to order, go larger rather than smaller. I'm on the cusp of L or XL so I bought the XL and it is just right: snug but not too tight. Any smaller and I wouldn't be able to get it on. My only disappointment is that I still can't put on or take off the helmet w/glasses on, one of the reasons I wanted a modular. A small gripe. Overall, a great value, just like Motorcycle Consumer News said.
Lighter than the CL-Max and comfortable. Sunshield is not dark enough to be useful. Really liked it until the chinbar release lever became balky and then failed to release. Found broken screw socket inside chinbar. Very thin material. I'll buy another because the wife wants helmets to match but I would not recommend this helmet.
I ordered a medium-size SY-MAX II for my wife. When it arrived it was HUGE. Bigger than my 7-yr-old XXL-size SY-MAX I and also 6 ounces heavier (I have a scale that weighs to 1/10 ounce). It weighs 3 lbs 15.4 onces. I checked into it and found that HJC USES THE SAME SIZE SHELL FOR ALL SIX (6) SY-MAX II SIZES, XS thru XXL. Ridiculous! Order one if you have a big ol' head, otherwise, you'll look like Dark Helmet in Spaceballs.
