Like it for the price, it's my back up helmet and works well for the job--HJC makes a heated visor for it, so that's a plus in year round riding. The sunshield is a little clunky as is the regular shield. BUT this is a competent helmet. My regular lid is a Shuberth, so I'm a bit of a snob about fit. The HJC is a good helmet.
This helmet is so me. It has the features I love which include the head vents which can be opened to help me stay cool in the summer and closed when the weather gets colder. The sunshield is very nice to have and can be lowered and raised as needed for the sun. It is very comfortable to wear on those long rides when I'm just cruisin' thru the mountains, and there is space inside to mount ear phones to listen to music along the way. The pink is a very nice soft pink to let the vehicles next to me know that there is a girl under all this gear. I would highly recommend this helmet.
Now, this is my first stree helmet so I cannot be an expert here. Understanding it is not a top brand and does not cost that much, I think this is a great helmet. It fit well, has a great finish, and the sun visor is awesome. It is fairly light and the size is just right; however, you can tell it isn't a $400 helmet. Some of the parts are basic (although they work as they should) and the screen catches just a tad. In spite of that, for is a really good helmet for the price and I would recommend it to anyone that is not set on, or has been completely spoiled by years of, the top brand helmets.
I bought this helmet for my wife and she loves it. She was unsure about the built in sun visor but now loves that it has it. She does not have to always remember to take her glasses with her now or can wear regular glasses and not always wear her contacts.
I ordered the IS-16 in size XXL, which according to the size chart, was quite big enough for my head; however, the helmet would not fit. The quality and features of the helmet seemed to be good, just wish they made it a little bigger.
Good over all.... wind noise Low , comfort what I hoped for. visors features very good ( internal sunshades that flip out of the way Very cool. ) HOW EVER cheek pads are to large , and no options other than none at all....
I am satisfied with this helmet. I had to go with a XXL when according to the sizing I should be able to use a L or XL but no way. The XXL fit very well. I left everything at 4 stars simply because I would like to see a cooler, lighter, cheaper and more comfortable helmet but who wouldn't. Having said that, I feel that all 4 categories are relatively reasonable. I also very much like the drop down sun visor inside the helmet but wish it was darker than it is. I highly recommend this helmet.
This is a helmet boasting features of much higher priced helmets. It is very comfortable, at least if you have a round head(there are several head shapes) and very well ventilated. It is reasonably light for such a full-featured and affordable helmet, and so well balanced that it feels even lighter than it is, when wearing it.
This helmet, being white, increases your visibility dramatically. Studies show that a white or hi-viz helmet is the most important piece of high-viz gear one can wear. The white is also cooler in the heat of summer.
A huge plus for me is that it is longer in the chin area than most other helmets. This puts more space between your chin and the chin bar. For me, it means that my lips are not up against the chin bar.
It comes with a breath deflector, wind curtain, locking visor, and an inner sun-shade visor which is actuated by the slider on top. The sun visor is a boon, and I can't imagine going without it now.
The one thing I wish HJC would do is put another position on the sun-visor that would allow it to come down 1/2 way, just under your line of sight.
A bonus of this helmet is that it has holes for intercoms under little insignias on the side, that are easily pried off. Also, the interior is easlily removable for installing an intercom, and there are two vent ports in the foam front liner that allow a microphone to be installes, totally out of the way, very easily. The one caveat on installing a mic in one of these ports is that you should tape over the port hole, and over the vent in front of the port as well, or you will get major wind noise...
I have actually tested one of these helmets in a crash, and it performed flawlessly. One thing to consider is that the visor has a lock on it. I usually do not use this lock, but in my crash, it locked by itself. This caused me a moment's panic when I tried to remove it, but I pulled very hard and it opened up in spite of the lock. As that helmet had been used in a crash, I bought a new HJC IS16 to replace the old one. If I had to replace my current helmet, it would be with another HJC IS16!
I was very happy with customer service the helmet made it to my house by the second day that I ordered. I ordered the wrong size and sent it back, it was hassel free I had the right size helmet the same week. Awesome, thanks!
