When I first put it on, I noticed that it was a snug fit ... which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I had a problem with my old helmet sucking in road grit/sand because of the way it was designed; after several long rides, not once has this helmet sucked up any dirt into my eyes while riding.
Being such a snug fit though, it may seem a bit tight on your head, but after several rides, that softens up a bit.
I must admit, I don't care for the seam in the forehead ... after a cold ride, the imprint of the seam stays on my head for a good 20-30 minutes.
For the price, this is an EXCELLENT helmet. DOT/Snell approved, anti-fog visor (which is an excellent perk in itself!), and great ventilation that seems to sweep the air up and out of the helmet so it doesn't stagnate or get muggy inside. Great padding as well.
OH! And after you've strapped it on, there's a plastic button that you can re-hook the remaining portion of strap so it's not beating you up!
I have owned several HJC off road helmets and have been satisfied. This street helmet is above & beyond! The ventilation is excellent, and the eye port is enormous. Fit is right on, as always with HJC.
I was not sure how much to expect out of this helmet since it was so affordable, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. It is a great looking helmet and comfortable as well. Adequate air flow and I like the locking visor. I have already recommended this helmet to friends.
This is a great helmet. It is both Snell and DOT certified. The ventilation is great! It nicely matches my motorcycle and the graphics are sweet! Strongly recommended. Can't go wrong with helmets from HJC. Already bought smoke visor for sunny days.
Excellent value. All the safety features at a third of the cost. Sure, it weighs a bit more, but so does my wallet as compared to buying the Shoei or Arai. I've owned 3 CL-SP's and will continue to recommend these to anyone looking for a great helmet on a budget.
Great looks, great fit, and great value. Best Snell helmet for this amount of $$. Has not fogged any. Love the flat paint. Very comfortable and cool with the shield down. Bought a quick release to go with it.
Purchased two helmets. One for my grandson and the other for me. The fit and comfort are great. We have oval shaped heads and most helmets ate made for round heads. The hjc is made for an oval head and fits well around the entire circumference. I purchased from clearance, so the value is very good. My grandson thinks they look very cool.
Absolutely best value for money and looks great. It is the cheapest Snell certified helmet out there(that looks good). And when it comes to my head I want it to be protected by a Snell certified helmet I don't know about you. Great fit dont size up or down just go by sizing chart. The helmet was also shipped very quickly which is a huge plus. Anti fog up works really well(vents and such).
Bought one four years ago and it is getting some age to it so this latest one is a replacement after this season. A couple of concerns in that the shield is not sealing correctly and allows rain on the inside. Another issue is wind noise inside even though I ride behind a windshield on my cruiser.I try to avoid rain and wear ear plugs so the new one will be ok .Got extra discount and the delivery was on the front porch before I knew it was there.
Got this for $58, what a deal! I received the helmet in two days with standard shipping! The helmet feels great and the size chart is right on. My head measures 7 and I fit into the small perfectly. The visor removes and locks in solid. The vents provide good airflow and the noise at 55mph is minimal. It does whistle a little at low speeds with the visor up but what helmet doesn't? I would buy this helmet and any other from HJC again, especially from Dennis Kirk!
After reading many reviews and finally coming down to just a few potential candidates selected this helmet. I am very satisfied. This helmet has very low wind noise, is comfortable, stylish and is light weight. The paint has a few very small sand grain sized imperfections but barely noticeable unless you really look hard for them, none of which are a bother. Overall, it looks and feels like a $350 helmet, plus it's Snell rated. If you have a round/oval head you will really appreciate the fit. Great helmet for a great price!
First, the service was wonderful and prompt. This helmet on closeout is the best value on the Internet. The price for the features is unbelievable. The fit per the sizing chart was perfect. It has good venting and the shield is very quick to change out. Less than 2 minutes. The matte grey finish looks great. Highly recommended.
I was on the border of Medium to Large. Went with the medium. I have a slightly egg shaped head so it's a bit snug at the forehead but not terribly uncomfortable. Any bigger and it would be flopping all over the place. Can't beat the price and shipped very fast.
This was amazing. I put this helmet behind me because all I could find were ones for 150. I found this for 64 and it was amazing. Fit is perfect, snug but not too tight. Comfortable, safe, just... perfect
I got this helmet about 2 weeks ago. I tried on different helmets in stores to make sure, and concluded HJC fit me the best and most comfortably. I had specifically tried on the CS-R2 and liked it the most, and bought the CL-SP hoping it fit just as well and it actually did.
I bought this helmet because of the great scores it got from independent bike gear reviewers and the fact that it is also SNELL approved, as well as the fact that is was only ~$70 shipped.
The helmet flows excellent amounts of air, is as comfortable if not more(according to my cousin) than the SHOEI my cousin wears.
There are only two minor things that kept this helmet from getting a perfect score, and both of them might be isolated to the helmet I received: The mouth piece gate was dislodged from it's hinges when I received the helmet. I had to use a small screwdriver to pop it back in place at the cost of scratching of the mouth piece breather vent. The other and last issue is that the details on the helmet art are just decals under the flat clear coat finish. Some of the vynil was peeling close to the sharper contours on the sides of the mouth piece of the helmet. It's not noticeable from far but pretty obvious when I took it out of the box to inspect the helmet closely.
The visor locks great and the over all helmet is light. The helmet isn't the quietest but neither is my bike and tha magniture of the noise transmitted isn't great enough to cause a real issue with me
I was looking for a new helmet to replace a 7y/o Fulmer. Read many of the reviews, liked all the features offered on the CL-SP. This deal was made even better when I found it on sale at DK for $65 (Suggested retail was around $169). Arrived in just 2 days. Originally a little snug (a tighter fit than the Fulmer) but within a few days of riding, I did not notice it any more. This helmet is quieter than my Fulmer. And I love the flat grey finish, matches well with my S&S Devil in the Details Black and Silver Jacket with matching Gloves.
I have to admit, buying a helmet online had me a little concerned, would it fit, what would show up in the package, and what happens if I don't like it. All of those questions were racing through my head when I was looking for a helmet to begin my adventure as a motorcyclist. When I purchased the helmet, I was not aware of the DOT and Snell ratings, nor did I understand all the features that were on this helmet. Once I started the class, and wore the helmet for 8 hour straight, I was amazed at how comfortable it was, and the visability was amazing. I would recommend this helmet to anyone interested in a full face one, and have on several occasions. I now wear it everytime I ride, and the adventure keeps getting better!
I Loved the fact that this helmet was SNELL and DOT approved/rated. I got it for $65 bucks. it was an awesome deal. I receveid the helmet only to find it was a snug fit for my fat head it came in a 2xl and that was very tight so I called back and was requesting an exchange and the sales rep suggested that I just try buying a larger liner and Poof that did the trick so I got a great fitting helmet for $85 bucks.
After hours of research I found this helmet and found it to be the best priced helmet for in which you could choose colors, and that was SNELL certified. Snell certification stands out to me because it is an non-profit independent research organization that tests the helmets instead of the manufacturer of the helmet testing it(which to me usually involves biased results). So if my head hits the pavement I want the best helmet i can afford protecting my head as I'm sure you will too while looking stylish and in comfort(all of which this helmet is).
