Bought the XXXL HJC CL-SP and am very happy with it. Finding a helmet large enough for my big melon is difficult at best. The HJC fits well and has enough room at the chin. My previous helmet didn't have enough chin room, couldn't stick my bottom jaw out without hitting the chin bar.
I ordered the Type O flat white helmet and am happy with the color although I believe it will end up showing stains and scuffs much easier than a gloss helmet. Haven't used it on a long ride yet but so far I'm pleased. I like the shield lock, keeps the shield from coming up at speed. Seems to have plenty of ventilation, it's July in the deep south and I don't feel like my head is going to roast.
This is replacing a flip up helmet, just decided the convenience of the flip up wasn't worth the reduced protection. So far I'm very happy with the helmet.
I bought this helmet less than a month ago and it ended up saving my life. I was in a really bad wreck a few days ago which caused me to land head first on the pavement at approx 50mph. If it were not for the fact I was wearing a helmet I would not be here right now.
My last helmet was an HJC which had worked just fine but was reaching 10 years old and needed to be replaced. This helmet was a giant leap forward in technology. The air vents work well and the mask seals nicely yet still dissapates breath vapor quickly. The fit is good, and doesn't impair vision or movement. Shipping was fast and easy. Overall I am very happy with this helmet for riding through the Colorado Rocky Mountain "twisties" as well as through town.
Have worn my new helmet once and the snap on the chin strap came off. It is a shame that a nickel part can ruin the whole product. Helmet fits well, although I had to return the original for a larger size. I already had an HJC helmet and thought the same size would fit... NOT!
If you can fit your head into a small, XS, or XXS helmet, then this a bargain for $60. It has all of the features you'd expect to see in a higher priced helmet. The air venting is good, build quality is good, and styling is nice.
This is the third cl-sp I have gotten from Kirk. The one before this was an xl and by the chart should have fit. I got this one in xxl and it's really not that much bigger, but a tad more comfortable. The old one fits, it's just tighter than I like. They are about a pain to paint, I don't know if I will paint this one or not. It says not to paint them by the way. I am a professional auto painter for over 40 years and used basecoat clearcoat. I would not recommend any amateur painting a helmet. That said, I think they are an outstanding value in a helmet! Even in an ignorant no helmet state such as mine, at this price, there is no reason not to have a helmet.
I was concerned I would not find a helmet that fit me because I have a smaller head. The XXS fit perfectly!!! I bought the white flat color and I love it! The vents are good and no more are needed- though I live in Minnesota so it doesn't get really hot. It could be a lighter but it's not bad. I definitely can get used to it for the price.
Took a ride today in the sunny upper 50's. Helmet is great but for a lot of wind noise which I was surprised about. Quite a bit of air flowing around my face.
Overall I really like the helmet, fit is great, finish is superb as are the graphics. Got a mirror shield with it since D/K had this one on reduced close out price. Unbeatable price. SNELL approved. Great features. Very light and stable at high speeds.
I have an old ARAI Signet which is still awesome and fits only like an ARAI can but this HJC bucket is very good. For $600 less $ it is great. I think I will be pleased for a long time to come.
Rated 4 stars overall due to the wind noise, just sounds different than my ARAI. Never had a helmet that did not have some kind of noise.
