Harley Stage 3 Upgrade Components
Harley Stage 3 Upgrade ComponentsTime to go BIG! That’s what the Harley Stage 3 upgrade is all about. Going bigger with your V-Twin’s displacement can deliver a major impact on performance. By increasing the displacement of your engine, you are able to increase the output of power everywhere in the RPM range. It’s the power that you need to pass a semi on the highway with ease or to ride with a pillion without noticing a major impact on your performance. This upgrade provides you with the power increase necessary to be comfortable in all riding situations.
The easiest way to complete the third stage is by installing a big bore kit designed for your specific mill. These kits generally include new larger bore bolt-on cylinder jugs, pistons and everything else needed to make the swap. The major advantage of the bolt-on kits is that there is no machining required. There is a lot less labor required, making the Stage 3 bolt-on kits a very attractive option.
A bigger bore can also be accomplished by machining the stock cylinder bore to a bigger size. This process requires special machining equipment, usually only found in machine shops. Once the bore is completed, you will need to install oversized pistons to fit the new bore size. This process may be required on a blown-up engine if the cylinder wall damage is too immense and going bigger is the only option.
When done in conjunction with a Stage 1 upgrade or Stages 1 and 2, a Stage 3 upgrade can really bring your Harley to a whole new level.
