I chose this manual petcock to replace the vacuum-operated OEM petcock on my 2006 H-D Sportster after the vacuum line developed a hole. It looks great and is simple to install. The filter screen is short, but the pickup tube is the same length as the OEM Sportster petcock, so there should be no changes in reserve volume. The handle operates smoothly and clicks positively into place, so there's no guesswork when you reach down to change the position of the handle while riding. It requires 5/16" fuel line, which is larger than I was previously using, and the fuel obviously flows much better than before – either due to the design of the gravity-operated petcock or by virtue of the larger line. Whatever the reason, my carburetor is happier than ever before; my motorcycles starts easier, seems to require less choke, idles/cruises more smoothly, and accelerates with greater authority than ever before. I was surprised at how much of a difference a petcock makes. Plus as a bonus: The Golan is supposed to be easy to rebuild should it ever be necessary. A highly recommended upgrade!
