I bought these boots because they had the side zip and said waterproof boots. Rode one time in moderate rain and they stayed dry. Did a 2000 mile ride and rode one day in an all day rain, stopped at a rest area at noon and poured water out of my boots . They are NOT waterproof. One of the guys in our group had the same boot and also had wet feet. The rain did not weep over the top into the boot. I tried standing in the bathtub with water and they leaked like a sieve.
This boot has a good fit and stylish look. They are light enough for walking without sacrificing the safety needed in case of a spill. The insoles have little padding so think about replacing them,(the originals are removable). The soles are glued not sewn but a good boot for the price! Dennis Kirk delivered the day after I placed my order!
I already own the Mesh Hi boots from Firstgear. I am a 42 euro in those boots, so I ordered that size for the Kili Hi boots. They fit true to size. I wear an 8.5 - 9 US in men's dress shoes (Clark's, Florsheim). There is a lot of vertical room in the toe box, so I was able to add a Dr Scholls active series insole and now the boots fit snug but not too tight.
I've only ridden in a moderate rain for about 10 minutes so far, but my feet were dry. Despite the claims, these boot do NOT breathe, so my feet get sweaty if it's hot just like any other waterproof boot (even Goretex).
The white contrast stitching stands out a bit more than I would like since I wear these boots to the office. I will probably take a sharpie to them and black them out.
The reflective heel patch is very reflective. Ankle, toe, heel, and shin protection feels very solid. I crashed in the Mesh Hi boots before and they saved my foot and ankle from being crushed. The Kili Hi boots feel even more sturdy, so I have no qualms about their protective ability.
