My main criteria when I was shopping for jackets were waterproofing, wind proofing, warmth, and value. This jacket met them all pretty well except warmth. It isn't warm enough on my morning commute with just a t-shirt and no liner, but in the afternoon, it is unbearably hot and makes me very sweaty. I blame it on the rubbery waterproof membrane which feels cold to the skin in the morning, but keeps all the heat and perspiration inside during the afternoon. The vents do almost nothing since the waterproof membrane lies between the vents and your body. Wind does cool down the membrane considerably though, so it's a bad idea to have the vents open when it's cold out. I am 5'-11" 155lb and 38" chest, and the medium fits well with room for an extra layer underneath. The "hand warmer pockets" are more like cargo pockets because they have flap closures on top rather than openings on the sides to slide your hands into. I wish I could have gotten a colored jacket that is more visible during the day, but the reflectives it does have are very shiny at night. For me, having the armor is not worth the extra weight and size of the jacket, and I prefer to wear a thin windbreaker and a sweatshirt for commuting. Also, I took out the big flat foam pad in the back, which makes it a lot easier to carry and store.
