Unfortunately I won't be able to mount this shock so I won't comment on the shock dampening quality. That may be quite good. My issue is with the different size of shaft (thinner so the OEM rubber buffer that slides over it is totally loose) and the thread at the top, which is an M12 x 1.25, while the original Polaris is a 7/16/20NC. That means neither the original upper spring retainer nor the expensive Polaris nut will fit. Also the included spring retainer has a slightly bulgier top, which gives a bad fit to the lower bottom ball pivot. I could use the supplied nuts and retainers, but worst of all is that one of the large nuts has the thread cut into angled and one of the standard top hex nuts has no thread inside at all. Okay, I guess just bad luck, but the guy who put that nut on there should be fired, because it falls down the thread. That's aside that split locknuts should be used to secure the strut. So these struts are in no way easy replacements for a Sportsman 500. All the trouble could be avoided if these struts and all products in this catalog would have a data sheet or complete specs.
Very easy ordering process, quick delivery and part fit very nicely. Please note that the shaft diameter was slightly different than the original part. The newer ones were slightly narrower. The existing rubber bumpers had to be replaced as well to fit the new struts
after 5 rides on my polaris explorer 400 one of these so called better ride and performance struts blew out!!!! guess my ride is just too big and powerful!?!?!? should have gone with oem! the ride was stiff at slow speeds with less articulation! at high speeds they were better.until it blew.it was like rideing a rocking horse!!!!
Smaller od piston than original, bottoms out on hard front end dip.but it does fit.If I drove this polaris 300 hard I would return it, but it's fine for my use. would be a great help if someone would give specks on the product they sell !
