Emgo Universal Ignition Coil
This "little known secret" from Dennis Kirk is a great find at the website. I use these on my vintage bikes as replacements for the OEM. They're reliable, excellent quality, work well with both points ignition or electronic ignition systems & have replaced the old, unreliable coils from 45 yrs ago. I'm REALLY pleased Dennis Kirk carries this product & is my sole source for this item now! Good job, DK!

Emgo coil
I bought an Emgo coil a few years ago from Dennis Kirk. I just bought two more as spares for my vintage Hodakas. The first one I bought was used to replace the coil on my Rickman-Zundapp 125. Works fine with a 6 volt system. I'm very pleased with this item.

Will this work on 74 honda XL175?
Rob Jess W on Sep 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used this coil on a 1976 Bultaco Sherpa T 350 and it is working very well.
This coil looked very much like the coils on my 1975 Honda TL250 and a 1974 TL125 and a 1976 Yamaha YZ 250, all of which were functionally interchangeable and I would buy this coil again if any of those old nails need a new coil.
The mounting holes in the frame tab needed to be slightly enlarged to fit the spacing of the coil mount holes and to make sure there was a good ground through the old paint and surface rust.
Of course, I put a new connector on the lead wire and also used a new sparkplug cap.
Will this coil work on a 1975 g5 kawasaki?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes however the mounting positions do not line up but you can still use one of the mounting holes unless you make modifications to the mounting position yourself. just be sure if you do it will provide a good ground for the coil.
My coil has 2 electric wires connected .does this coil only have 1 and does it matter?
A shopper on Sep 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You should have what's called the voltage or signal wire usually the orange one on the universal coil and the other is a ground and should be grounded to a good source
