I ride an 06 Street Glide that was outfiited with the stock 402's. I have never been totally satisfied with how the bike handles corners or pavement cracks. I updated the swingarm bushings which showed mild improvements in the ride. I decided to upgrade the tires to Elite 3's and wow! what an improvement. These tires are great! I could probably take my hands off of the bars while riding through rain groves the bike stays striaght and corners much better. I researched several dealers and found Dennis Kirk to be the best by far. Very easy to order and shipping was fast.
I ordered the Dunlop Elite3 rear tire for my Ultra Classic from Dennis Kirk, this was my first order with them. I placed the order on 5/27/2011 and recieved an e-mail confirmation stating it had been shipped that day. Due to the following Monday being a holiday I would recieve it on Tuesday from UPS. During shipping the mailing address was torn from the package and the package was sent back to Dennis Kirk. I called Dennis Kirk and another tire was immediatly sent to me even though the mistake was not D Kirks. This was excellent service. I have put over 4000 miles on this tire and still have 8/32 of tred left. This far exceeds the mileage I have been getting out of the 402 tire. I am a happy customer and my next tire(s) will be Elite 3 purchased from Dennis Kirk.
I just installed this tire on the rear and have only had it for 1k. So far i noticed one thing that i like and that is the handling. Far superior over the stock 402 so now if i get more than 9k out of it i will be sold on this one for sure. It gives a smoother ride and no wiggle over rain groves on the interstate like the stock tires do.
The Elite 3 tires wear like iron, (over 20k on the rear), work well in the rain, and don't follow tar snakes or rain grooves like the stock D402's. They look a lot like the tires on the new Harleys...could the tires be partly responsible for the new bikes better handling? Believe it!
Have been using Dunlop Elite 3 tires front and rear for about 5k miles and have at least 5k to go. These have the best handling and longest wearing tires I have had on my Electra Glide. Previous rear tires lasted only 5-6k miles and these should double that. They don't follow rain grooves and soften the ride, too. I am also very satisfied with Dennis Kirk's policy of beating other prices by a dollar. Along with the fast shipping you can't go wrong.
i recently bought a set of elite 3"s for my 05 bagger.after the first 20 miles i knew i will never go back to the D402 junk it came with.it totally felt like a differant bike.smoother ride, better handling and much more quiet.i no longer feel the seams in the road and cornering feels like its a sport bike.and on top of it all the pair was a couple of bucks cheaper then the stock tires and Dennis Kirk had them to me in 2 days.can't wait to hit the dragons tail may 1st on them.
I'v used these tires for years, great mileage on the road and no problems with them even down to no tread left on them, just a slick bald tire with a little tread on the sides to keep you up around the corners. I have got up to 14K on the rear and up to 22K on the front.
I just put these Elite 3's on the front and back of my Dyna Wide Glide and the difference was noticed immediately! The handling is fantastic with a much smoother ride that the Harley recommended Dunlop's.
I'm now on my second Elite III Rear tire. The first tire had 17500 when removed. I ran this tire on my '02 Electra Glide. Most of these miles loaded and 2 up. There was still usable meat on this tire when removed. Probably had another 500-1000 miles on it.
I bought this tire to go on my bike. It would not fit so I checked my son's bike. It fit and he was needing one bad. Since he was in Iraq I went ahead and put it on so there woould be no delay in riding. He's put lots of miles on it since his return and loves every mile.
Have had an E3 on the rear of my '07 Electra Glide Classic for about 1500 miles now, and so far the results are positive. Main complaint with the stock D402's was tracking on tar snakes, road seams, etc. Just running an E3 on the back (still have the stock 402 on the front) has reduced this considerably. I also get less of the "hum" in high-speed corners that the 402's are known for. Can't wait to try an E3 on the front as well. Can't comment on mileage or rain performance as I haven't had it on for very long, and I avoid rain like the plague. But overall I'm pleased with the E3, and Dennis Kirk was (as usual) right on the price with fast (and free) shipping. Ordered the tire on Monday evening and it was at my door Wednesday afternoon. Thanks DK!
I replaced both Avon Venom tires, which were showing the wear bars in addition to cracking with the Dunlop Elite 3's. The ride seems to be softer, holds the line better, and corners nicely. Traction is good in both wet and dry conditions. I only have about 500 miles on them so far, but I do like their performance over the Avon's. We'll see if I sing the same tune after say 10,000 miles, but so far, so good.
Elite 3 handles and rides nicer than expected. I only have about 750 miles on them so i cannot comment on life, but traction wet and dry is excellent. First thing i noticed was that the tires hold their line and do not follow tar snakes or rain grooves. Would certainly recommend over the Dunlop HD!!
I purchased the Dunlop Elite 3 tires, front and back and took off on a 10,000 mile six week trip. Upon return the tires still have several thousand miles left on them and performed perfectly. I rode them through the "Tail of the Dragon" and Blue Ridge Parkway. After years of trying out different tires I'm sold on the Elite 3.
2008 FLHTCU I wanted something with better mileage than the D402 that only gave me 9k. After hearing all the opinions on the E3 figured i would give it a try. Well, I only have a few miles on it so far but already notice a big handling difference. Bike rides more stable on those rain groves, tar snakes, and gaps in the roadway. I am sold on this tire already. DK had it at my door in 2 days with a killer price so no need to go elsewhere.
Just purchased the tires so they would be on the bike before riding season gets here. Have not been able to ride it since I bought them as I bought 2 sets of tires and one was for my son and one for me. I took them to a small shop to have the tires mounted, but mine needed tubes and they cannot find the size for this size back tire as it is different than a stock Harley tire MU85HB-16. If you have this situation and need a tube, order it with the tire as Dennis Kirk have them in stock. My tires were 6 years old, so ordering a tube at the same time is a good idea. Can't wait to try them and hopefully have a better ride.
