great tires
Best tire I ever rode on. Heavy duty side walls stopped turning lagging. I was not a big Dunlop fan due to cupping, but hear these tire were good. A friend did some research on them found good reviews. I did replace both tires at same time. DK had best price too.

Highest miles ever on a rear tire
I got 20,000 on my orig equip rear on new 2012 FLHTCU. I just changed the replacement Dunlop American Elite at 47,500 mi. My Ultra is the heaviest bike I've ever owned and got the best milage by far on the American Elite. 27,000 on a rear with good handling.

Great tires
I have ran these tires for years on my Ultra Classic and Street Glides. Usually get around 30K miles on the front and 17K on the back for wear. Handling is awesome even in wet conditions, I live on the gulf coast, rain is frequent and not an excuse not to ride! Don't hesitate to run these tires, they are great.

14500 miles
I am very happy with these tires. I have put them on the front and back. They seem to grip the road well and handle tar snakes. I have over 14500 miles on them and still have a couple thousand I can ride yet in them. My last set were the commanders which performed well but I think these will out shine them. I will reorder the American elites!

Best I've ever had!
This tire rocks! When I first took off after the installation, the tires were grabbing all the loose gravel/rocks and spitting them up unto my fenders of my 2009 Street Glide, which startled the heck out of me until I realized what it was, drove another block, then all was quiet and smooth. The tire grips better than any other tire I've ever bought for this or any other bike that I've owned. I was recommended to purchase this tire for my bike by my mechanic, and I'd like to pay it forward by recommending the purchase of this tire.

Rear American Elite
Just put this on the rear and the day it was installed it was raining.
First test in the rain outstanding handling and grip.

I like how the center of the tire has most of the rubber that meets the road................

As far a the overall review of this tire I have to say Dunlop did a lot of research and I hope to get 15,000 miles or more out of this product.

This tire is for the open highway and the rider that needs a tire to have wear all around..............
Not every road is made of turns and twists.........

Glad I switched!
I've put on 100,000+ miles on the old 402 Dunlap,They have a NEW American Elite that is terrific! I just installed my second rear tire and a new front tire. I put on over 13,000 mile on the last rear tire in 5 months. I had a lot more tire left but decided to switch both, front tire was do. My Roadglide handles wonderfully in all conditions. I'd never go back to he 402. Elites all the way! See you in the wind!

can I jam it in the rear of a 2006 streetglide?
John P on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm so sorry, I miss read your email. I thought you said a 180 tire when you said a 150. But my answer may still be the same. I've seen people put 1 size bigger tire on their bikes and had the same problem I described in my last email. In AZ 3 years ago we came upon an accident where the rear tire blew out on a softail. We found out the owner put a little bigger tire on the bike. The whole sidewall was worn out from hitting a fender bolt. You really should stay with the same size tire that come with the bike. Thanks

A shopper on Feb 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I put it on a spoked wheel and needed a tube.
is the MT90-16 tire offered in a white wall?
Slowride on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Best ride will be a softer compound.Dunlop is a good time but tendency is to become hard. Then? Hard to balance. Flat spots, then cracking. Thin white or wide white is also a consideration. Dunlop is a good tire, just can last too long

Mr fix it on Jul 22, 2017

Will this tire work on my bike with a tube? I have spoke rims
Jack B on May 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can put a tube in any tubeless tire. Overly cautious riders do that when their tubeless tires get a puncture because they're afraid a plug might fail. Usually that's because they don't know there are combination plug/patches.
What's the difference between dunlop and dunlop elite tires?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Dunlop American Elite is an aftermarket tire, similar to the Dunlop Harley Davidson branded tire that is only available through a Harley Davidson dealer. The American Elite has the same construction but with a slightly different tread pattern. It is interchangeable with the Harley branded tire.
Is this the Dunlop Harley Davidson tire that comes on the tour bikes?
A shopper on Sep 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I believe this is the newest version of the tire factory installed by Harley. I got 23000 miles on my last set. Good to the end. Excellant traction even when worn, at least on dry roads.
Looking for a 150/80/17 Dunlop American for the front of a 1997 Honda Valkyrie?
A shopper on Sep 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not showing a Dunlop American in stock in that particular size for a 1997 Valkyrie, only a D404, a D251F or Elite 3. Have you seen one available, I checked with Dunlop themselves as well.
will this front tire work well with a rear dunlop d401 130/90b16?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I usually try to keep the same tread pattern front and rear... Different tread patterns will react differently on some road surfaces and weather conditions --- at least that has been my experience over the past 35 years of riding.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. Highly recommend replacing the rim strip and inner tube.
What Dunlap front tire do you recommend for a 2014 Electra-glide ltd?
Trickrider on Mar 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'd highly recommend the American Elite for both front and back. I'm riding a 2013 Ultra Limited and I'm on my second set. The tire has a slightly different tread pattern than the OEM tire, when crossing metal grate draw bridges, the American Elites don't try to wander all over like the OEMs did. I replaced my first set of American Elites at 15K miles, only because I didn't keep up with tire pressure and they cupped. At 15K miles, they still had plenty of tread life left, unlike the OEM which had to be replaced at 15K. I'll be buying these again when the time comes. Hope this helps.
