Overall I'm happy with the fit, finish, style and function of this oil plug/temp gauge. My only issue is that the glass collects condensation on the inside on humid days. No big deal, but figured I should point it out.
Oil plug temperature gauge was a great purchase. Im a numbers guy so to be able to see what my temperature is was a must. It also adds a better look then the stock oil gauge and a lot of people looking at the bike complement it. Fits great
exact fit replacement for my 03 xl883c . harley dealer has a higher priced one that has the harley logo. if you are ok with made in japan in very small lettering this one will save you a few bucks and works well. my local harley dealer has a hard time stocking parts like this one and will have to order it for you.
I went to the dealer to find a oil plug temp gauge and they told me they didn't make a temp gauge for my year of FLSTF, so I looked at Dennis Kirk and found it cheaper, shipping was fast, very pleased with the gauge.
Listed as Drag Specialties but the one I got was in a box with NO Drag Specialties markings on it at all not even a DS part number so I don't know what brand I got. Fits fine in my 2009 1200XL Low. Anyway, it works the same as the original dipstick and the markings for Low and Full are proper. I've always kept my oil level just above mid stick. The temperature gauge works good and the unit seals and clicks into place without any problems. I find it to be a good tool for simple diagnostics, oil temp can tell you a lot. The only thing is that it's a little pricey, other than that I recommend it. -v-
coming out of the package it looked and worked fine. press down and it locked, press again and it popped up. put it on the bike after changing oil and wanting to check the level and it would not pop up to unscrew. now i have to pry it up, which will wreck it. i am from michigan and riding season is all but over. will replace in the spring
