It's a spring...
Stock replacement spring. Nice chrome finish, and my kickstand hasn't fallen off yet, so it seems to work. It feels weird to review this, but here we are...

Safer and looks good too.
After I lowered the rear of my '91 Sportster using Dennis Kirk's 11" shocks, my kickstand would drag when leaning into a left turn. I discovered my old greasy kickstand spring was stretched. This spring pulled it back all the way to the rubber stop and holds it securely without rattling. Bright chrome looks good too. I used an old tool for installing brake shoe springs to quickly install ths part.

Not recommended
I ordered 3 of these since they were inexpensive, the first one streched out after two weeks and would'nt hold the stand up to the frame, changed it out with a new one and it broke only got four uses out of it .I'm afraid to install the third one. Will go back to original equipment from the dealer.Poor quality

STAY AWAY
This part is nearly impossible to install without destroying it. It's way to stiff for any kind of pulling motion with pliers or vice grips, and the penny trick will not open it up enough to install on the kickstand in either position. I actually broke my little spare milling vice trying to open this thing up for the penny trick, so the next step was to hook it on a floor jack (the spring ends surprisingly fit perfectly around the cross-rods on mine), but when I got it open enough to put the pennys in, one spring end actually cracked about halfway through. Sure, I could TIG it back together, but it's junk material so what's the point? To add insult to injury, the spring end won't even sit fully in the groove on the Drag Specialties kickstand. Really? Really, Drag Specialties? Shameful. It's a good thing this only cost a couple bucks, otherwise I'd be really "ruffled."

Maybe I just got a bad one, but i'm never buying another from DS.
