My comp sprocket has a washer/spacer under the retaining nut. The new one does not,so install the new one with no washer/spacer. Also torque spec same as factory or different. Thanks JK. ?

BEST ANSWER: Use the same thickness spacer on the new compensator as the old one. Also, Harley has a new torque procedure for the compensator sprocket. I believe that it was published in 2004. Torque to 75 ft/lbs, mark a line on the nut and the housing, then torque another 45 degrees, not to exceed 50 degrees. It also helps to let the red loctite cure for 24 hrs. prior to adding oil to the primary chaincase. Haven't had any problems with the compensator loosening up since adopting this procedure.

BEST ANSWER: I just used my existing spacer on the outside of the existing spring pack (as everything else lined up identically when compared to the old set).

Save Time and Money
Harley Dealer wanted 1,100 to replace this part with 4 hours of labor. Do it yourself and know its right the first time. DK team helped me get the right parts for my bike. 214.00 dollars and 1.5 hours later no more clunking at startup. 1 myth about the job is that you have to pull the clutch cage. was able to pull compensator off in pieces then separate the spline from the sprocket on the bike. The nut/bolt has red loc-tite on it and is TIGHT. Recommend buying the tool to lock sprocket.
