I have a 2007 50th Aniversary Sporster XL 50. The same year there was a recall on the voltage regulator and I went to my dealer and they replaced it no charge. After sometime my bike broke again and a friend with many hardly experience change the regulator and fixed again, Both times it was the same part. Now is doing the same that before. Won't start, front lite won't turn on but all the little lights like the key, ignition, oil and signals work. Will tilt be the voltage regulator again?

BEST ANSWER: This isn't exactly an answer just a suggestion. I had a similar issue but when my regulator an coil pack. After replacing them it temporarily fixed the problem. One issue was the prongs in where the regulator plugs in it was not making proper contact. That sounds like a possible issue or more likely u have a loose wire or a wire that is shorting u out. They are a pain in the ass to find but it's a start. Also if u can bump start the bike if carb use a volt meter an check voltage coming threw to ur signals an headlight. See if ur getting power or to much voltage an blowing the light. That will help eliminate a possibility
I have a 2000 bigdog 117 ss I'm looking for a voltage regulator for it , can you help ??

BEST ANSWER: if you have the same plug as this, it will work
I have enough 1995 electroglide that has 4 wire coming off the regulated 2 wires to the stator one wire to the battery and one to ground now is this regulator gong to work for me?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Well the plug end goes to stator and I am guessing the single wire goes to battery and the regulator uses itself for ground to frame but it being aluminum and painted dunno how well that would ground. Guess it's a 50/50 chance

regulator worked like a charm
Upon testing the voltage before installation I realized that I wasn't sure what I needed. The voltage was at 12 volts at the battery so I went for a ride for about 70 miles and noticed the volt meter was reading 8 volts. Thought I'd better head for home. I made it to my garage door when the battery died. Got lucky. Then I went to Dennis Kirk online and ordered the new regulator at 5pm Monday and at 4pm Tuesday it was waiting for me at my door, Fantastic service. I installed the device and the bike runs like champ. All kinds of correct voltage. Thanks Dennis Kirk, Super service!!

I get a CHARGE out of this !
The Bike is a 1996 FLSTF-HD. It had never had a charging Problem befor well it was the Voltage Regulator ! I checked and found units so high in price I thought I needed a lone to get it ? My sister had me check denniskirk.com and I not found my part at a grate price but when I called in to order I got the nices person that double checked the order for my year, make & model to the product I wonted, that is so killer. When I ercived the part, that came in on time, I installed it, was a grate fit & is got me on the road agane. Thank you Dennis Kirk.
