Do not try this at home...
...if you are not mechanical beyond the novice level, and have a well equipped shop. On the positive side, these are beautiful and chunky, with a nice wide grip. Exactly what I was looking for. On the negative side, the throttle side tube was too large in circumference to come even close to allowing the throttle grip to budge, and I tried two different sets of Avon grips and a Harley grip. I was forced to metal finish this diameter down using a grinder, then 400 grit wet, then 1000 grit wet. This took about an hour, but I am a working mechanic and fabricator, and I get paid to work with metal. If you were doing this as a first time project you would rue the day you even considered these! Secondly, the holes for the wires to exit at the bottom of the bars are far too small to allow modern canbus connectors through, so you will need the correct tool to relelease the pins from the connectors, fish the wires, then reinstall the wires into the connector. That work is pretty touchy to get right. If youre splicing anyway on and older bike, that wont pose a problem for you. All that said, I am pleased with the finished product, but it was a JOB! For reference, this is the 8th set of apes and/or t-bars that I have installed and internally wired. Normally I can do the job in about an hour and half to two hours, including adjusting cables and bleeding brakes. This took 5 hours. Two stars due to the work required to make the throttle fit, shouldnt have to do that, obviously.
