I recently purchased a Daytona Skull Cap Helmet. I have a pretty big head so I ordered a XXXL because that is what normally fits me. The helmet arrived in a very short amount of time, which was nice. After trying the helmet on it was way to big this was a first for me. So I followed the given instructions to make an exchange for a smaller size. Shortly after sending the helmet back, I received a new helmet in a XXL. Again this helmet was to big, very surprising. So I made phone call to Dennis Kirk, the person I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable. They found the right size helmet for me, and after completing a Second exchange my new helmet which is an XL fits me perfectly.....Overall I am very happy with my purchase and the customer service.
I haven't worn a helmet in over 10 years, but decided that I should start wearing one after some close calls. I have to say, this helmet was a little tight to start out with but has fitted better each time I wore it. I probably only have 10 hours wearing it but I like it. I wear WileyX glasses with the helmet, if you don't have the helmet on right it, the ears hurt with the glasses on. The chin straps are not perfect, and I would say the least comfortable part of the wearing the helmet, but not enough where I wouldn't wear it. Again, I think overall its just making sure that I have the helmet on correctly is the key, don't tilt it back on your head. For the price, I am not sure you could find a better helmet. Oh, there is no lift up to hwy speed of 60-70mph. After that there's a touch, again I believe anything on the head after that speed will do the same.
- Ordered the XS and it was slightly big for my VERY tiny head. Overall however it had a nice slim line to it with very little to no mushroom effect. YAY! - I did return it for a refund as DK didn't have the XXS in stock for exchange.
- The XXS fits perfect with very little lift at highway speeds. My only issue with the helmet; the chin strap could adjust smaller. It's fully adjusted to the smallest point and is on the edge of being loose. Not necessarily a manufacturers issue (my tiny head again) but maybe something to consider if you're small framed.
- My experience with Dennis Kirk was a very enjoyable/smooth transaction, return included. I will be returning for my future Cruiser needs. Thank you!
This helmet had the perfect fit for me, was very lightweight, and had a low profile. Great quality and finish. Nice padding that felt good and isn't very visible when worn. I would have given it 5 stars because it didn't have a quick release buckle, which I added.
This is the 1st legal helmet I have worn for more than a day! There is no wind noise from the straps and very little pull from the wind. Looks good, feels good worth a try if it's time to go with a DOT helmet.
Tried a few different lids to slap on my head bone and this one by far is the best. The fit and style are the best for my head shape and the price makes the deal that much sweeter. The sizing chart is dead on also, which can't be said for every helmet I have tried over the years. Definitely the best buy in a dot approved bucket in my opinion and Dennis Kirk is a breeze to deal with. Couldn't be happier.
Got tired of my old mushroom-head half-shell, that was always lifting off my head at 30+ mph. This one fits perfectly, and doesn't try to "lift up" even when going 70 mph, it's light, and mine even came with a nice quick-release buckle, making it very easy and fast to put on and take off. And the flat black "soft-touch" urethane finish, is great looking, and doesn't get slippery when wet. Feels like rubber to your fingers. No kiddie stickers or ridiculous skull graphics either, so your club bros won't be making fun of you, and you'll fit right in with the other real bikers. Just has the required DOT sticker, to keep the Fuzz happy!
It takes about a couple of rides to get use to it being very lite on your head , after wearing a heavier one of the other brands, molds to your head after awhile unless some big head wears i Also thanks Dennis Kirk for years of great service
I owned a low profile from another company, and throught I'd try this one from Daytona. Its not nearly as low profile as the other brand, this one gives me the mushroom head. I'll keep it as a spare unless I can return it without any fees or return shipping costs. This also doesn't have a quick release strap. Otherwise overall a nice helmet for someone who won't mind the dreaded mushroom head.
