CompuFire 40 Amp 3-Phase Charging System - 55560
  • Provide 25A at idle and 40A continuously above 2800 rpm
  • Unique narrow rotor and stator fit into Softail/Dyna/FLT primary cases as used by most custom builders and the voltage regulator bolts on in the stock location without any frame modifications
  • Precision-balanced vented rotor keeps the stator cooler in closed primary systems to maintain maximum output under all high-current draw conditions
  • Custom-designed flanged seal spacer provides maximum support for the rotor and voltage rotor output is calibrated to 14.25 V from idle on up
  • Ideal for fuel-injected engines and bikes with overdrive-type transmissions
  • Vented rotor for enclosed Primary drive
  • Note: '96-'98 FLT models require regulator mount H49-633

BEST ANSWER: You can use a regular battery with this system I bought a new one so my whole system was brand new at the same time.

electrical problems gone
I bought it because my '95 FLSTC was always very low on voltage, especially at idle. I noticed my horn sounded weak too. Note I have a new H-D AGM battery that is ALWAYS kept on float charge via Battery Tender, & every connection in the circuit is tight, clean & shiny. The stock 32-amp charging system was working as designed, just under-powered.
I monitor my system with a Kuryakyn LED display on my handlebar (about 40 bucks and a MUST own), so I absolutely noticed the improvement. Good deal here.

Awesome upgrade
Fit and finish outstanding. Works as advertised. Awesome upgrade for those older, lower amp charging systems.

improvement over stock
I installed this kit on my 95 softail last week, and the improvement in charging is great; now my horn is actually LOUD even at idle. Output is a constant 14.4 volts even with all lights on at idle.
Now we'll have to see how well it holds up over time. I caled CompuFire for a tech question & got a helpful answer in 10 minutes, so that's a good thing.

not clear on installation spacer location I called told to leave spacer of still unclear, tried compu-fire webb site no info still unsure so used the large spacer, rotor on edge of stater hope alls well very expensive for a mistake. But still ordered another one I'll call again for more clarification while taking my best guess.
