This exhaust was easy to install for a beginner (me). I followed instruction on the sheet with the exhaust as well as a quick video of an install on a 1300 on youtube. Everything I read said it would take 2.5 to 3 hours. I was able to complete the install of the exhaust in under 2 hours and I wasn't working fast. The sound is like music. It is much louder than stock but not annoying. The rumble is deep and throaty not tinny or hollow and they look so much better then the big cannister stock pipe.
I am very happy with these pipes they completely changed the sound of my bike and made it sound like a motorcycle and less like a two wheeled weed zapper. I would suggest that anyone looking for pipes check these ones out. When I hit the throttle my bike growls with a deep tone!! I am very happy with my purchase
bought in Febuary on a monday delevered thursday installed in my driveway friday in about two hours no rejetting needed for my 2007 vtx1300r wakes the neighbors and lets people hear you comming no baffles sounds the best to me and i ran mine with and without them millage from 37-39 to 37-42 depending how much you make it yell. one of my tips are pitting so I have to call to see how good the support is I will let you know
I installed these pipes on my 2010 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. They were easy to install , fit like a glove. Look good and sound GREAT! Just what I was looking for. DENNIS KIRK WAS EASY TO DEAL WITH AND PIPES WERE AT MY DOOR IN TWO DAYS. BEST PRICE! HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
I purchased these pipes to replace another set of after market pipes. install was quick and easy. fit and finish is great. performance now I have no poping when im on the throttle or gearing down. great pipes good price.
First let me say this is my first purchase from Dennis Kirk. It was a perfect experience, shipping was great, tech dept. was very helpful. As for the pipes this is my second set of slashdowns on two differnt bikes. My current bike is a Vstar 1100 and the installation and fit was easy and perfect. Once again Cobra's quality was 5 star. They sound amazing at idle with a nice low rumble at high revs, gives it an even bigger bike sound and look awesome if you want a pipe somewhere between shortys and longs. One note for Vstar owners is that if you have an oil re-locator kit the brake fluid relocator bracket that comes with the pipes is of no use. But there are many options you can use to mount it somewhere else i.e. frame or a differnt bracket , its not hard to figure out I mounted mine on the frame down tube by drilling a new hole and self-tapping screw with loc-tight, looks like part of the bike there. If you want a great looking and sounding pipe you can't go wrong with this one.
Just bought and installed the Cobra slash downs for my 06 900 Vulcan Classic LT, took my time installing and went on in one evening. Baffles that came with them were a bit louder than I wanted so purchased the quieter baffles the next day and the sound was just right!!! Hint: If you want just a notch above OEM exhaust with a great rumble and still listen to music, phone, etc.... save your self some install time and go ahead and purchase the quieter baffles and change them before you install the pipes the first time, easier then without having to take them off and re-installing!!!! Great purchase and Dennis Kirk is fantastic to work with!!!
These pipes fit perfectly on my 08 Vulcan 900LT. I've purchased Cobra Exhaust before on a previous motorcycle and am always satisfied with their products. The instructions were easy to follow as well. I was concerned about using the original exhaust gaskets when installing, however, no problem. No leaks and they seat perfectly. Spend the extra on the Cobra Fuel processor after installing the exhaust or you will experience popping and idle issues. The sound is just right for me.
I had been searching the web trying to find a good deal on pipes, that's when I came across Dennis Kirk and there price couldn't be beat, so I made my purchase the pipes made it hear pretty quick. Installation was pretty easy, took me about an hour and a half by myself. And what a huge difference in sound, it was exactly what I was looking for, not too loud but perfect for me.
I went by the other reviews when I was looking to purchase a new exhaust for my 2002 Honda VTX1800S. They were very easy to install, they fit perfectly. The only thing I needed was new donuts. They were just $10.00 each at the local dealer. It made the exhaust complete and when I started it up, wow, it was sounding great. It was louder than I thought it would be, but not obnoxious. Sounds great on the VTX. Great product for the price. Highly recommend.
I bought the Speedster Slashdowns for my Vulcan 900 Classic LT. So far, I couldn't be happier; the new exhaust was exactly what I wanted. Installation took about 2 hours with the worst part being the positioning of the clamps to hold the heat shields in place. The pipes look great on the bike and the sound, for me, is just about right. Now my bike sounds like a motorcycle instead of a scooter. And the added added performance didn't hurt either!
I have a 2008 Vulcan 900 custom, install was easy and the pipes sound great deep rumble and loud even with baffles in. Install took about 40 minute but claps for the heat shield are a little tricky to get just right but if you take your time you shouldn't have any trouble. Easy to follow instructions and fast delivery you can't go wrong with these pipes. Only recommendation is to get some sort of fuel processor, I got the Cobra FI2000R and it seems to work well with my bike and these pipes.
Cobra slashdowns were the best 1 hour of my labor time ever spent improving my ride, not to mention the sound improvement of my machine. Easy install, excellent looks, will recomend DennisKirk to everybody that ask about where to get great deals on cycle parts, very fast shipping and customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These pipes have a nice rumble when at idle or just cruising, but turn the throttle and my Vulcan 2000 roars. They definately give my bike a more distinct v-twin sound that has more of a Darley Havidson sound then a Kowasaki sound. Not to mention I ordered them on Tuesday night and got them Friday afternoon, and I live across the country. Exellent customer service and had the lowest prices anywhere. I would definately recommend these pipes from Dennis Kirk.
First - I am not a mechanic, nor do I do anything but minor work on my bike. I figured how hard could the install be. Took about three hours and the hardest part was getting stock exhaust off. Once on, the look is great and the sound is awesome. It is a little louder than I figured it would be, but not obnoxious - a good sound. Another benefit was a noticeable power increase.
Follow the instructions - especially about loosening the foot rest bracket. Also when installing heat shield look for larger hose clamps... they go on the rear, larger part of pipe. I didn't notice difference at first until I installed lower set and when I got to last one it wouldn't fit around pipe... had to uninstall and do over.
I did not get any additional fuel management. Engine runs good - a little bit of backfire when downshift at times, but not bad. On board/stock computer seems to do the job fine. No heat issues.
These actually fit better on the Raider then my last set of cobra pipes on my shadow which fit very well. Fit, finish and performance is all there! I left the baffles in and it's perfect for me nice growl and plenty loud but quiet enough to ease around town without gaining unwanted attention when you don't want it.
Installed on my Vulcan 2000 LT. Love the looks and they installed in about an hour. My only issue is they are pretty loud. Nice rumble at idle and they are fine when you are at speed. But acceleration is pretty noisy. The baffles that come standard are pretty much straight through. I may buy the quiet core baffles to see what happens. It would be nice if they offered these pipes with the different baffles. Overall very happy with the purchase.
After looking on sites for pipes for my 09 vulcan 900 classic, I wanted the straight dual pipe look, sound clips and other testomonials. COBRA the way to go, the pipes where a breeze to install, fit and quality is excellent, and sound awsome, Dennis Kirk a breeze to deal with, fast accurate shipping, right on time and prices that are unbeatable, I have also ordered more items. backrest and windsheild etc. I put Dennis Kirk in my favorites and have already told others to check them out.
i purchased the cobra slash-down speedster exhaust and was very happy with it the only down fall was for the price i think they should have included crush gaskets with the exhaust and i also had trouble getting the tips on the rest went together no problem. I love the sound also makes my 950 v-star sound like a real bike should.I would recommend this exhaust to anyone who wants a nice chrome finish & excellent sound.
I love the sound of these pipes. They were alot louder than I expected. Denise Kirk had the best price anywhere and believe me I check all over for about a week. They arrive just when they said it would. They fit perfect and I didn't even need a digital fuel optimizer.
I purchased this exhaust in january and have not had a chance to listen to them or see how they effect the performance of the bike. they look awsome but if you have a barrons oil filter relocation kit you will have a problem. the barrons is too tall and gets in the way. i had a machine shop shorten it. i would recommend the jardine kit it looks shorter.
I installed this exhast system on my 2009 road star.the hose clamps were hard to get started at the muffler, cobra coulld have made them slightly longer. I left one off wasnt really needed two clamps on each heat shield is good enough.the muffler body was a little tough to slide on had to take the head pipe off and and force it on off the bike.then reinstall it on the bike as a unit.tips did not fit flush I had to remove heat shields install tips then reinstall back over the head pipes and muffler and do the hose clamps again.. I started up and it sounded great nice rumble at idle loud when u screw it on.I got the harley sound without the harley price tag.I was not able to test ride due to snow in the street and cold weather, but I think it should run good once I get on the street with it
These pipes were a little louder than I expected but with the quiet baffles they should be fine. They really changed the look of my bike. I went from a single (oversized) can exhaust to 2 nice pipes. I would recommend these to anyone who might be on the fence about new pipes. They definitely make you heard before you are seen. I put these on a 2009 v-star 950.
